Company: PitchBook's mission is to provide meaningful information into evolving capital markets. We cover the breadth of the private and public markets, with a focus on Venture Capital, Private Equity and M&A activity. Our focused coverage follows the entire flow of capital and includes market participants such as limited partners, general partners, service providers, and all professionals involved. PitchBook's proprietary data platform, research tools, and custom analysis delivers the information our clients need to win.

Team: The Data Operations department is a global operation. We show up each day to do the impossible: deliver transparency into opaque markets. The team performs web-based research and uses technology tools to capture hard-to-find data that enables its institutional clients such as VC and PE firms, investment banks, and law and accounting firms. Core use cases: enable market participants to develop insights into the flow of capital across the industry, conduct research, connect with professionals and advisors, and gain an edge in investment evaluation and negotiations.

Role: The Director of Data Operations oversees a group of over 400 team members comprised of Managers, Team Leads, QA Specialists, Senior Research Associates and Research Associates performing web-based data collection of information. The role works closely with managers to deliver and enhance operational excellence. The person partners with and reports directly to the VP of Data Operations located in Seattle, Washington. This person also works closely with leaders based in Kolkata and Seattle.

Responsibilities:

- Live and breathe PitchBook's core values; we are always looking for a better way to operate

- Set the tone, culture and rhythm of business for the 400+-person Data Ops team based in Mumbai

- Partner directly with senior leadership both in Morningstar based in Mumbai and PitchBook based in Seattle

- Ensure operational resiliency and partners to ensure business continuity and adequate staffing levels

- Work closely with VP of Data Operations, Data Ops Managers, and program manager(s) to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources and timing for new initiatives

- Evaluate and overcome program risks, anticipate next steps and potential obstacles and implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved

- Proactively meet with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project progress and roadblocks

- Partner with VP of Data Operations and Finance team for annual budgeting process

- Manage and enhance existing streams of work such as data enhancement initiatives, headcount and hiring planning, intra and inter department communication and more

- Establish effective organizational structure, and set and monitor OKRs, KPIs, and other metrics for self and the team to measure performance

- Review and monitor dataset comprehensiveness, accuracy, timeliness, efficiency and inflow and staffing projections

- Ensure production, quality, and productivity targets are met, identify and implement areas of process improvements and automation, and continuously set a higher standard of performance

- Make recommendations for performance reviews directs reports and provide input into career development paths and opportunities

- Liaise with Product, Data Intelligence, and Program Management to ensure alignment and transparent communication on project planning, roadmap, and goals

Requirements:

- 14+ years of professional work experience including 5+ years of Leadership experience

- Must have led large sized data/research operations and worked with global stakeholders

- Growth mindset; relentlessly finding a better way to innovate and operate

- Builder of culture of operational excellence

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to deliver strong reporting on key performance indicators

- Experience with Salesforce, data visualization tools such as PowerBI would be an added advantage

- Experience working with global teams

- Open to work in the UK shift and on public holidays
