Role/Responsibilities :


We are looking for an Analyst to join a newly-established model validation review team situated in the Methodology Review Group (MRG), which is Moodys internal analytical review function. This team, and this role, will be responsible for the initial and ongoing validation of credit rating models globally and across all asset classes.


- The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of interacting directly with stakeholders, taking the initiative on complex issues, and bringing tasks to a resolution quickly.


- This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with thought leaders in credit risk and gain global exposure to a variety of asset classes with a strong focus on structured finance, but with the remit to cover banking, corporate finance, public finance, and all other rating groups in Moodys.


- This role will suit a highly-motivated problem solver with excellent communication, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. The role requires the successful candidate to be quantitatively strong and also have good writing and oral communication skills.


Key Responsibilities :


- Review various quantitative models produced by counterparts in Moodys to assess whether they are suitable for use.


- Dive deeply into the models being reviewed, including running the models independently of the development team.


- Document the validation work done, tests performed, conclusions, etc. an a clearly-written, substantive, and comprehensive validation memo.


- Liaise with other members of MRG in other offices to integrate the validation work in the other MRG processes.


Qualifications :


- Strong academic background, MSc or PhD in relevant areas like Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance or Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Statistics.


- Very strong understanding of fixed income and financial mathematics; understating of structured finance is a plus.


- Experience in credit models and analyzing data. A good understanding of econometrics and applied statistics is a strong plus.


- Experience managing the interaction with key stakeholders, communicating complex model issues to senior management and approval groups.


- Strong quantitative aptitude.


- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly and succinctly.


- Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time.


- Fluency in English is essential.
