Legal Specialist - Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (Formerly Cadbury India Ltd.) (Please note the role is based in Sricity plant, which is about 2 hrs from main Chennai City/Airport, Apart from local candidates we also welcome candidates who are willing to relocate, relocation assistance as per policy will be provided) BASIC PURPOSE: The Legal Specialist is responsible for providing legal support to the Mondelez Factory at Induri and Sricity. The position reports to Senior Legal Counsel, AMEA Legal India at HO and is primarily focused on managing Legal matters at one or more of our factories and or Corporate Functions. The incumbent is expected to bring a business orientation and focus on problem-solving while upholding strong ethics and integrity across the organization. The Legal Specialist, Legal is charged with providing high quality and responsive legal support and guidance to the relevant factory/is as part of the Legal team; establishing collaborative relationships with colleagues for effective business partnering of functions; manage litigation through external legal resources within budgets as directed by the Legal Counsel; and highlight and manage risk in areas supported. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES : 1. Provide legal support and risk evaluation to the relevant factory, through - Contract risk management - Ensuring appropriate protection of intellectual property - Identification and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations - Policy interpretation, development, and training - Litigation and support for customer claims - Negotiate and managing external legal fees within agreed budgets - Provide legal support for major projects in the relevant factory as delegated by Counsel and manage the Factory Stakeholder maps 2. Establish a culture of compliance throughout the relevant factory through all forms of advice, communication, role modeling and training and includes: - Overseeing corporate governance and compliance with law and policy - Policy interpretation, development, and training - Implementing effective compliance training programs for policies owned by the Legal function 3. Participate in and contribute to the Global Legal department's knowledge management and productivity building initiatives as agreed with the Counsel on an annual basis II) OTHER COMPETENCIES : - Robust knowledge of local law and regulations - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey legal advice and documentation in a commercially sound and relevant manner - Sound judgment and business sense - Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of managers across a wide variety of business disciplines - Strong customer focus, yet have the ability to give independent advice - Knowledge of domestic and international FMCG/Foods industry, competitors and regulatory environment - Ability to manage numerous matters and competing priorities and to work within a matrix set up Candidate Experience Profile : Education: Postgraduate degree in Law from a recognized University Experience: At least 5 years Post Qualification experience as in-house legal advisor in a large corporation with multiple locations and manufacturing facilities. Experience in FMCG or Food companies preferred. 1. Must have at least 4-5 years of experience post qualification 2. Should have had experience working in an FMCG company - food industry would be an added advantage 3. Must have a basic knowledge of Food Laws, Legal Metrology, Consumer Protection, Contracts, and some litigation experience 4. Must have good communication skills and must have had experience in drafting
