Hi, I am Prasad, don't let my INSEAD MBA fool you. I've been a lifelong entrepreneur and this is my story. The reason I'm so passionate about education and making it more personalized for each child, is because I am a failure of the factory model of education. All through school I was great at mathematics, numbers, and logic. However, my school preferred to focus on the subjects that I'm terrible at. All through school it was an effort to get me up to the artificial standard that was set for each grade rather than letting me go faster and engage in the things that I was enjoying. It was only when I got to St. Xavier's College and selected Mathematics, Statistics and Economics, all subjects that played to my strengths and that I enjoyed, that I finally found my stride. I suddenly went from stupid to smart, which is when it struck me. It's not about labels! If we enable each child to move at her own pace, everyone can find their stride and excel. Everyone can find their inner genius! "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Our vision is, to change the world by unlocking each person's learning ability. We have been at it for 9 years now. But still each month when we look at Mindseed, it's a new beast with a new set of problems and opportunities. To tackle these we have radically changed how our business operates. We have rethought everything including the product, the school setup, the marketing and even recruitment, as you will soon find out. Nothing is written in stone and change is the only constant at Mindseed. While we have grown over the years, we have worked to keep the startup spirit alive through the pace of growth, change and innovation. This has held us in good stead even in the pandemic that has shaken up the world, but especially the education sector. Emerging from the ashes of the pandemic, the plan is to accelerate the pace a few more notches - get bigger, better but faster! Schools and preschool are only the start, we will use our centers as beachheads to give us a local presence and work to unlock peoples learning potentials through a variety of products and technologies which we are developing. Our sights are set on having 100,000 learners on the books by 2030. Yep, - challenging- is an understatement, and as our Angel Investor & Advisor Srikant Datar (Dean Harvard Business School) says - we need some equally crazy people to make it happen! Thats why Im posting this. To achieve great things, we need more awesome people (we're little over 400 people now). We are looking for a super system obsessed, detail oriented, data minded and process-oriented person who can build an enabling organizational backbone for our team of entrepreneurs. Mind you, we are not looking to focus on process over results, we enjoy an organization with a lot of autonomy, and hence this persons ability to deal with ambiguity, chaos and uncertainty is critical. We are looking for a person with experience in building an organization, building systems for scale, leading high growth organizations and developing a high-performance culture, but willing to roll his sleeves up and get his hands dirty. We think people with prior experience in management consulting and distributed retail or service organisations would be a good fit for this role, however a few years of experience in a fast-growing start-up is critical. We want someone who knows how to move fast and break things, someone who can bring order to the chaos and not get overwhelmed by it. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will ensure tight alignment between Mindseed's culture, people, systems and product. He would be responsible to drive operational excellence, customer satisfaction and product delivery at each school. The objectives of the COO would be: - Creating and building a strong product and brand experience with #1 locations in each market - Driving strong customer centricity throughout the organisation - Delivering a strong customer experience through the customers journey - Building a culture and the supporting systems for operational excellence - Driving product excellence and strong quality assurance - Building a strong foundation of systems and processes for organisational efficiency - Building a flexible backbone which enables rapid scale up of our organization The COO will be the co-owner of the P&L of the organization and the reporting manager of the regional heads who are responsible to ensure rapid business growth, excellent product delivery, continuous talent development and exceptional customer satisfaction. The COO will be responsible for leading and managing large teams Regional Operations, K-12 schools, Business Development, Projects, Procurement and School Excellence. The COO will be responsible to manage and coach the vertical heads and their one downs developing their individual and collective capabilities to lead their teams to hugely successful outcomes. However, the COO must not only manage people but be ready to get into the trenches and do a lot of work himself. This individual will also be a member the Senior Leadership team that will design strategy, long term and annual strategic plans, and drive a culture of collaboration and excellence across the organization. He should set a personal example of honesty, courage, selflessness and bias to action. Though we are looking for a senior person we are not looking for someone who is satisfied. We are looking for someone who is still hungry, feels they have a lot more to accomplish, a lot more to learn and a great deal to prove.
