Merck Group - Manager - Accounts & Finance - CA

General Responsibilities:

Leading the team to ensure good financial governance and compliance, through preparation and review of financial statements for publication to various stakeholders within and outside the Company. Quality and timely preparation of such financial statements is of paramount importance. Responsibilities will also include supporting various functions, leading the process of internal controls review and ability to support on Treasury activities.

Specific Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review periodic financial statements under various accounting standards (IFRS, IND AS and IGAAP) after ensuring a complete understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure. Develop external audit plan, take lead to discuss matters and audit progress with various levels with statutory auditors [including Audit Manager and Partner]. Ensure an accurate and timely year end reporting under financial governance framework, updated workpapers, documentation and accuracy of financial records.

- Develop Company's annual internal audit plan, local internal financial controls audit plan and global internal controls audit plan by assessing risk and develop direction for review of internal controls in the Company. Collaborate across functions within the Company and global team members to gather, review and submit the required data and ensuring a smooth closure across all regulatory requirements. Represent the Company for internal audit function of the Company

- Partner with various stakeholders in identifying financial impact due to special business circumstances and providing proposals for changes in policy, procedures and processes.

- Assist in Treasury activities including and not restricted to providing cashflow forecasts across all Companies. Able to deal with Banks for operational aspects and if needed, steer special requirements for digitalization.

- Advises staff regarding handling of non-routine reporting transactions. Be proactive to provide regular -training to staff and look for process improvements to maintain the department's agility. Must be matured to handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts / absenteeism as well able to guide teams in a timely manner on performance issues and talent development.

- Should situations arise, must be able to handle special situations like merger, hive-offs, ERP migrations, ERP system changes due to changes in law/business processes.

- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure that for team members. Understand and follow Company rules and regulations and pushing team members as well. Perform all duties as assigned and required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- CA with 6-8 years of functional experience in a large-scale manufacturing organization, of which 2-3 years in the financial reporting supervisory role is preferred.

- Knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations. Experience on IND AS, a must.

- Collaborates well with people [local and global colleagues], anticipate impacts of workload on team deadlines, motivating the team to have positive work attitude especially delivering on stringent timelines.

- Must be PC proficient with strong experience in SAP / ERP Migration, Word, Powerpoint and Advanced Excel skills.

- Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinker and interpersonal / problem-solving skills.

- Good verbal and written communication skills. Able to put personal views firmly for the benefit of the Company across leadership levels [local and global]
