Job purpose: 

- Increase in energy trading in markets affecting power & utility companies has an impact on short and long-term contract prices, on price volatility, on the choices faced by market participants and on the regulatory landscape governing markets.

- With Indian Power Markets moving from a regulated structure to a free and competitive market, and the evolution of spot market has begun to impact the way electricity generation is planned and operated. Competition in the market is gradually breaking the silos of conventional market structures and ways of trade. This started to pave way for a new expertise which calls for application of advanced analytics to make informed decisions to operate in the and optimization of portfolio.

- You should be a self-starter with high motivation and will be responsible for assisting our core team of consultants on their assignments with cutting edge analytics and market modelling. 

- The profile includes working with consultants in extending the current operational realm of market players in the power/energy sector to as to imbibe technology and improve efficiency through technology and innovation. 

- You will serve as a specialist on study teams and also support in research collaborations, with responsibility for any of the major phases of a complex study of broad and varied programs.

- Responsible for developing the company's competence in Energy Trading & Risk Management through analytical support and research, which includes development of models and operations pertaining to Dispatch & Trading for a Discom.

- You will assist consultants and responsible for energy data analytics and operational support in order to implement advanced decision making tools for clients.

Required Skills: 

- Basic knowledge of the Indian Power Sector, especially Trading & Regulatory, which including its commercial, technological and regulatory drivers of Power Market

- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft suite (including advanced Excel skills with embedded Pivot Tables & Macros; advanced PowerPoint usage)

- Statistical Analysis & Financial Modeling.

- Experience with VBA and Access is a plus

- Basic understanding of statistical concepts and predictive modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Logistic regression techniques, big data platforms like MS Access/SQL, Tableau / PowerBI), with ability to work with team comprise of data scientists will be a plus

- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft suite (including advanced Excel skills with embedded Pivot Tables & Macros; advanced PowerPoint usage)

- Applied Statistics/Econometrics, Statistical Programming, Database Management & Operations, Digital, Comparative Effectiveness Research

- Strong report writing skills

Working conditions / Location : 

The base location would be Lucknow, however would be required to manage projects at other client sites both in and outside India.

Direct reporting: Analyst/Sr. Analyst - Utilities reports directly to Sr. Manager - Utilities and to the Mercados , Partners at regular intervals.
