General Expectations from the role 

1. Generate profitable returns in the companies invested and create and measure the desired social impact

- Create a strategic road map for the next 3-5 years by working alongside the entrepreneur and the board of each company

- Support investee company to create a business plan along with financials based on the strategy.

- Identify resource gaps (talent and investment) to execute the plan and support them by bridging it through external sources

- Identify lead indicators and build monthly MIS/ dashboard to arrive at the variance/ deviation based on the approved budget by the board

- Develop critical measures and KPIs to continuously assess committed social impact parameters

2. Provide deep analytical support to portfolio companies

- Prepare portfolio reports periodically highlighting the business risks and opportunities, financial and impact progress on each company for Investment Committee

- Identify cross portfolio synergies to help the companies learn from each other

- Pipeline building for the fund, performing Market research and due diligence for potential investments including financial modelling and web research, testing products and services

3. Maintain data room of all investee companies which will encompass pre-investment and post-investment documents

4. Preliminary evaluation and scanning of prospective investment opportunities in various sectors

5. Deal sourcing and origination for potential investment, work with intermediaries to build deal pipeline, perform due diligence, and market research for potential investments, which could include financial modelling or web research and testing products and services

6. Provide deal execution support to the investment team

7. Develop Investment Committee collaterals, reports and presentations

8. Assist with transaction structuring and exit structuring

With specific reference to Artha's portfolio companies, develop robust KPIs, safeguard Menterra's & Artha's rights and interest in the company as an investor, monitor and communicate the financial health of the portfolio to Artha IC from time to time

- Plan and engage in monthly calls and quarterly board meetings to identify resource gaps, deviation/ variance on the budget vs actuals, compliance gaps and/ or social impact deviation

- Corrective action based on the gaps identified and help the investee company execute

- Protect Menterra's interest in the company (impact, returns) till exit by exercising affirmative consent and other rights provided for in shareholder agreement where required

11. Visit each of the companies as required but not less than once a quarter

Desired Qualifications & Experience

- Business and financial analysis skills/ interests

- CA, CFA or equivalent / Engineer with a Financial qualification

- 4-6 years experience in research, consulting, venture capital, investment banking or impact investing

- A few years operational experience in Healthcare, Education or Agriculture companies is desirable

Reporting to: Principal, MVA. Compensation is on par with market in social impact investment space

Location : Bengaluru
