Remember when your first Flipkart order arrived? You went through hundreds of products in their website, chose one that you liked, mostly cheaper than you could have gotten it in any offline shop (if it was available in an offline shop that is), and it shows up at your door. Remember that delight? There are 800 million Indians who are yet to experience that.

So far, eCommerce in India has been only making inroads in the top income decile of the population. The price points for most products in eCommerce sites are largely out of bounds for the majority Indian population. There was no economically feasible way to sell low-priced goods (think 200Rs shirt) to the rest of the population over the internet. With WhatsApp and Facebook, group buying is just a click away. And because we can accumulate a large number of orders for the same product this way, the prices go down significantly. Making it finally possible to sell a 200Rs shirt online and still have positive unit economics. THIS is how we think eCommerce will be made accessible to the majority of Indians.

This is how Pinduoduo democratized eCommerce for the less affluent in China. They are the fastest growing eCommerce company in the world, IPOing in a record three year time, They are already the second-largest eCommerce player in China (launched only in 2015). We believe it'll be bigger in India because Indians are more price-sensitive and socially connected (Just imagine the number of people in an Indian wedding)

We are looking for an experienced finance leader who has built or managed financial operations at scale and is looking for the opportunity to make a huge impact on a huge problem. This is a full-time position based in Bangalore.

We want someone who can:

- Do day to day reconciliation of marketplace vendor payments

- Generate monthly, quarterly or annual financial statements and reports detailing paid and unpaid invoices and other accounts receivable activity

- Research and solve payment discrepancies

- Check for any revenue leakages in the system by doing a regular reconciliation and work closely with the tech teams

- Continuously track key financials and business metrics, accurate reporting and circulating the same to relevant stakeholders at requisite time intervals

- Acts as a running source of truth for numbers - key metrics and performance drivers

- Build the finance team, workflow and processes from scratch

- Oversee various statutory filings like GST, TDS etc.

Our ideal candidate would be/ would have:

- Post-Graduate /MBA from a tier 1/ tier 2 University or business school / CA

- Strong analytical rigour and problem-solving skills

- Strong communication & Interpersonal skills

- Proficient in MS Office to handle large volumes of data

- Proactive, takes initiative, self-motivated, team player

- 5-10 years of experience in similar roles

- Prior experience in eCommerce companies a plus

- Motivated self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as cooperatively with others within and across functions
