About the role: We are seeking an educational measurement specialist (Psychometrician) to join the Learning Outcomes team. The Learning Outcomes team is set up as a center of excellence. By joining this team, you would be working on cutting edge assessment practices and you would be a pioneer in designing how the Ed-tech industry at large can drive student learning outcomes growth. It is a technical role that requires expertise in Item Response Theory (IRT), based measurement models. If you are passionate about helping students maximize their learning potential and if you have the right skills and experience, then you will succeed in this role.

Job Description

- Provide leadership in designing and developing measurement strategies in different contexts

- Collaborate with assessment specialists and SMEs to develop blueprints for assessment tools in alignment with IRT principles

- Design assessment pilots by working with different teams for assessment/survey instruments

- Analyze assessment results by designing and developing appropriate measurement models to measure student abilities, item difficulty, instrument reliability, validity etc

- Develop measurement scales and student proficiency levels on the scale

- Draw insights from measurement analysis to set standards for assessments and help improve assessment quality

- Develop quantitative research procedures, including study design, sampling, statistical procedures etc

- Collaborate with technology and product teams to develop scalable assessment solutions

- Manage assessment projects including design, development, administration, analysis, and reporting

Skills/Experience Required

- 5-10 years of experience in the education sector or in the field of measurement

- Atleast 2 years of hands-on experience in designing and developing measurement models in the K12 sector

- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: measurement techniques like item response theory or Rasch model, quantitative research methods, multi-level modeling, structural equation modeling or longitudinal analyses of student learning outcome data

- Knowledge of theories, developments, trends, and operational use of modern psychometric procedures

- Experience in carrying out analysis of learning outcome data and in presenting actionable insights to different stakeholders

- Knowledge of research and sampling designs

- Demonstrable ability to navigate tensions between theoretical purity and practical constraints in research

- Knowledge of current issues in learning outcome growth and its measurement in K-12 sector

- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including strong report writing skills

Qualification: Phd, Master's or bachelor's degree in education, statistics, psychology, economics, public policy, or engineering with relevant experience in educational measurement or psychometrics. Required years of work experience is flexible based on relevance of your work experience and educational qualification.
