Marsh is a global leader in insurance broking and risk management Marsh McLennan Global Services India Private Limited (MMGS) is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Mumbai, India office: Head - Management Information Lead (MDS) What can you expect? - The Dashboards and Metrics Reporting Manager position reports into the Director, Knowledge Services supporting Marsh Data Services and is part of Marsh's Operations and Technology (O&amp;T) team. This is a new position for Marsh and is global in nature. The successful candidate is responsible for setting strategic goals for the Metrics, Analytics and Reporting function and ensuring that the business is responding to critical reporting metrics and analyses required to support all areas of business management. This position is accountable for the growth of the department, and as such, hires, manages and develops effective managers. - This position includes building out a global network of direct and matrix reporting resources (including within our India COE), working with stakeholders to understand their requirements as well as building out a framework for meeting those requirements and establishing best practices for colleagues elsewhere that wish to create their own dashboards. - This is a senior leadership position that requires exceptional communication and collaboration skills together with deep data knowledge and experience designing robust Business Intelligence dashboards from a user experience (UX), procedural and architectural perspective. The position works with business users to understand their needs and instantiate those needs in dashboards that provide insights and competitive differentiation for those businesses. - The successful candidate is expected to become expert in the data and initiatives associated with that business and feel comfortable sitting with business executives in supporting the decision making process. - As the manager of Dashboard and Metrics Reporting team, the successful candidate will be working with a broad range of internal stakeholders to create a strategic vision of business intelligence within the organization. Navigate the balance between short-term imperatives with long-term strategic objectives. - Develop a strategy for improving operational efficiencies across different business areas and geographies as well as identify synergies with other operations functions. - Review the needs of reporting teams to meet their analytics requirements and explore and monitor businesses performance trends across the business and improvement initiatives. - Work with business users on translating their use cases into business and technical requirements according to standards, including leading business strategy planning efforts and developing high-level strategies across departments. - Ensure that the business is responding to critical reporting metrics and analyses required to support all areas of business management and ensures alignment with developing business strategies and initiatives. - Advise management on complex projects across departments, working with colleagues across various functions to develop and continuously improve the reporting and analysis infrastructure. - Maintain and develops a wide network of effective relationships with other department heads to align departmental priorities across operation, technology and business stakeholders. - Define dashboard and metrics reporting standards and support implementation across departmental activities. Standards should be consistent with industry best practices and comply with current and emerging industry regulatory requirements. - Work collaboratively with various Technology and Data Management teams to create and maintain a suite of data quality rules, KPI and SLAs for all in-scope systems. - Work collaboratively across the Marsh McLennan divisions for opportunities around tool selection, best practices and efficiencies. What you need to have: - 15+ years of experience with a similar role, ideally within the Insurance or Financial Services Industries. - Extensive, hands-on experience with Qlik applications, Tableau/Power BI. - Deep and abiding appreciation for all things data - its role, impact, challenges, and potential with an organization. It is especially important to be knowledgeable in the full gamut of Data Quality dimensions and processes. - Ability to attract, train, manage and retain talent. - Ability to create differentiated, insightful and inspiring Dashboards from a UX perspective. - Solid understanding of Data Management and Data Governance concepts, processes, technologies, and issues. - Experience structuring and managing behavior change across complex, global organizations. - Extensive experience decomposing system processes from a workflow perspective to drive performance enhancements. - Solid written and verbal communication skills, along with ability to extract business requirements from client use cases and translating these requirements into technical specifications. - Ability and willingness to collaborate at all levels of a global organization to ensure the successful implementation of change. - An inquisitive mind that is not afraid to question current ways of thinking. - Experience operating independently but also knowing when to ask for help. - Ability to think creatively (vs. by rote) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and utility. - Ability to generate, sell and execute creative solutions to complex business problems. What makes you stand out? - Understanding of the insurance market- players, processes, challenges/opportunities, and technologies - Understanding of information (e.g. sources, identifiers, standards, glossaries, and taxonomies) within the insurance industry data domain. - Extensive, hands-on experience with other Business Intelligence applications like Tableau and Power BI. - Understanding all procedural and technical aspects of the data management process. - Understanding of business process design and systems change management. - Interest in emerging technologies and knowledge of the InsurTech/FinTech landscape. - Familiarity with various analytical and business intelligence methods and tools. - Working knowledge of Agile and other SDLC methodologies, including producing user stories and participating in sprints and daily scrums. Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean principles. - A strong willingness to learn a new domain--getting into its deepest details and being hands-on. - The ability to ask probing questions without getting frustrated and without frustrating others (e.g. the domain and subject matter experts).
