Manager/VP/Lead - Financial Accounting - Bank (15-20 yrs)

The role requires a developed understanding of Enterprise Finance and supported business units. Manager may partner closely with others within Finance, Accounting, Regulatory, Risk, Operations and also may be involved in strategic initiatives across the organization in parallel with all the below daily responsibilities and requirements.

Leadership role supporting diverse and complex functional areas related to financial accounting. Responsible for directly and through subordinates, managing accounting activities. Duties may include: directing completion of accounting tasks pertaining to accounts, statements, systems and records; setting standards for and monitoring the data provided for and/or preparation and review of financial statements and other documentation; creating and implementing controls to ensure accuracy of data; enforcing adherence to internal and external accounting principles and policies.. Manages a team of analysts or cross-functional/virtual teams in accomplishing goals.

About the Role:

Responsibilities :

- Duties are accounting based operational processes, month-end/ quarterly accounting/reviewing tasks, and performing reviews of key controls.

- Coaching and developing a team of accounting analysts

- Reviewing general ledger and system of record data, completing research, analysis and reconciliations

- Providing review of various regulatory reports

- Performing detailed research of data and processes, analyzing, interpreting and reporting findings for the Held for Investment and Held for Sale portfolios utilizing Excel, Access, ESSBASE/Smartview and Financial reporting systems (Eagle Web, Oracle GL, IRIS Web, OBIEE)

- Potential to providing functional advice and training to lower level accounting positions

- Establishing an effective preventative and detective internal controls structure to ensure accurate financial accounting and reporting

- Establishing strong relationships with business partners and working closely to understand impacts

Market Skills and Certifications :

Essential Qualifications: 

- Qualified CA/CFA/ICWA/MBA with 15+ years of relevant experience with good financial acumen in finance ops or accounting ops roles such as monthly closing, reconciliation, capital markets, GL accounting, financial analytics & consulting, accounting reporting and risk reporting.

- Should collaborate in leading risk assessments and controls by ensuring general ledger, operational processes and systems of record are correct and aligned based on GAAP, Regulatory, and policy requirements

- Establishing an effective preventative and detective internal controls structure to ensure accurate financial accounting and reporting

- Establishing strong relationships with business partners and working closely to understand impacts

- 3+ years of Team management experience of a team size of 5 to 7 team members

- Ability to perform complex analyses, build financial models, draw conclusions, and communicate recommendations to business leaders

- Ability to work both independently and within team environment across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important

- Strong communication and presentation skills

- Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines

- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Power point & Access

Desired Qualifications

- Experience related to accounting and reporting in Consumer Lending activities like Mortgages

- Experience with data analytic tools (such as Essbase, Access and/or SQL)

- Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization

- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

- Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability

- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

Other Desired Qualifications:

- Experience using mortgage systems to include one or more of the following: Black Knight-MSP/Fidelity, SHAW, Oracle Essbase, and Oracle General Ledger (GL)

- Direct mortgage experience with HFS/HFI portfolios preferred
