Manager- Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (Construction Industry)
Overview:
An ideal candidate would be a sourcing and procurement expert with a technical and functional understanding of the Construction industry. They must have experience in construction& Interior material procurement with a strong network of small to large-sized suppliers/ vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of Procurement ensuring fast turnaround time for best rates.
- Ensure updated data on Vendors, Quotations, Invoices, Payable and Receivables
- Negotiate with vendors for better rates & negotiate credit terms
- Focus on improving long term relationships with suppliers
- Support collections from customers in a timely manner
- Share timely reports on Sales, margins, profitability, supplier base and procurement Metrics
- Ensure accounting standards are maintained basis recommendations
- Candidates must have a background in either in procurement (for at least 8+ years)
- Candidates only with experience in companies in construction material sales (Steel, Cement, Plywood, RMC, etc.) are required
- Create and implement best procurement policies and processes in the organization to improve the operational and financial performance
- Building, developing and leading the procurement function
- Developing and implementing profitable sourcing strategies
- Discovering profitable suppliers and initiating business partnerships
- Negotiating favorable terms with suppliers and ensuring timely payment to suppliers and timely delivery to clients
- Executing vendor contracts and managing risks associated with supplier contracts and agreements
- Conducting extensive primary and secondary research to stay up-to-date with the industry trends
- Good Negotiator in terms of agreement and pricing and ensure the quality of purchased products
- Enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases
- Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
- Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage
- Establish e-procurement in the organization
Key Requirements:
- Good knowledge about purchase tools.
- Ability to develop good relationships with suppliers
- Effective tactics for negotiating costs and contracts
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in "reading" the market
- Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
