Manager/Specialist - Legal - Litigation - Pharma - LLB/LLM (10-17 yrs)

We have been mandated by a Global conglomerate in Pharmaceutical business for the below mentioned position.

Position Name: Manager - Legal (Litigation Specialist)

Location: Mumbai Andheri East

Education: LLB from a reputed institution, LLM (preferred but not mandatory)

Experience: 10+ years of work experience in a large organization preferably with pharmaceutical industry.

Experience:

Knowledge and Skills (Functional / Technical) :

- Prior experience managing in-house litigation role and labour legislations

- Demonstrated ability to independently move projects forward by gaining the support needed from others while working in a cross-functional role

- Proven track record of collaborating with groups (e.g., HR, EHS, finance, operations, sales, IT) to set objectives and produce meaningful results

- Proficient in business applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, document management systems, and legal enterprise software

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines

Reporting to: Senior General Manager Legal

- Purpose of the Role: This role is a very broad-based and includes various legal issues and compliance requirements that the organization faces on regular basis. This role requires a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to handle all legal issues and litigations in a very efficient and cost effective manner. The person will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner. As a part of the COE, the candidate will be key in creating processes and practices to improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness, facilitate change, and control costs. In addition to expertise in civil and criminal litigation, the individual must possess strong interpersonal skills including verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to handle conflict, and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

- Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (civil and criminal laws including labor law, contracts, environment laws etc)

- Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies

- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance

- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations

- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues

- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.),

- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights

- Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces

- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization

- Handle various notices, intimations and other communication and to draft response thereof in collaboration with business functions

- Preparations of case drafts

- Coordination and briefing / discussion with the lawyers for legal cases and to negotiate the fees structure of the Advocates.

- Coordinate and make arrangements required for legal proceedings and provide the required documents to appointed Advocate for proceeding of the matter.

- Follow up with Advocates for updating of legal cases.

- Follow up with concerned officer to attend the court.

- Attend the meetings /conferences as and when required /directed by superiors.

- Draft, review and solidify pleadings, petitions, affidavits and other litigation documents,

- Attend litigation matters at various courts and tribunals

- Handle court matters at varying levels of complexities with a high degree of collaboration with all the stakeholders involved

- Develop and implement internal process guidelines, templates, and workflows decision-making, including matter and work product analyses

- Develop and enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend

- Develop reports and processes to monitor processes, and spend throughout the legal

- Provide technical and training support for new legal department hires

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams as well as various business units
