Manager - Operations - OTC Derivatives - Investment Banking (12-17 yrs)

ROLE :

- The job involves leading a team working for a Global fund administrator, specializing in administering assets of complex hedge funds. The position requires good experience, back ground in financial markets and back office functions, preferably OTC markets and back office functions. 


- The role includes close supervision of the team, effectively handling escalations as well as communicating with internal and external stakeholders, providing leadership for the team and ensuring an inclusive working atmosphere at all time.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT :

RISK MANAGEMENT :

- Proactively implements controls and measures to identify excessive operational risk and /or control problems at an early stage and ensures that immediate measures are taken to maintain quality and efficiency standards

- Proactively manages the operational risk through adequate BC planning, BR-wfh/BC testing, TOW testing and execution

- Generating efficiencies within the team and effective utilization of resources

- Demonstrating that planning activities and decision-making are done with the appropriate consideration for the level of risk involved

PROCESS MANAGEMENT :

- Ensure a culture of continuous improvement exists throughout the team, encouraging staff to identify ways to improve straight-through processing and implement best market practice. Participate in system enhancement projects and oversee process improvement initiatives through to implementation

- Manage and supervise team performing middle office for OTC products which includes, affirmation, pre-confirmation of cash flows and settlement.

- Work with IT, Brokers or clients to reduce the delays caused through uncontrollable factors and take to resolution

- Understanding of Equity, Fixed Income, OTC products like swaps, CFDs etc, Derivative products like futures and options etc., Bank, etc

- Taking ownership for all the deliverables being sent out by the team with proper review checks

- Ensuring back-ups are in place for a smoother process flow in case of absences in the team.

- Meet or exceed the quality and timeliness threshold established in the SLAs and migrations

- All BPTRM documentation & signoffs for new processes are completed and for existing processes updated where appropriate

- Track all errors, issues, incidents/breaches, implement appropriate controls and feedback/training required for continuous improvement

- Effective engagement with stakeholders in home location

- Coordinate and collaborate across HFS India groups and managers globally to ensure consistency in client delivery and transitions including shared services.

- Understand and process trade activity in accordance with established operations policies and procedures

- Strong problem solving skills

- Actively participates / leads efforts in support of department, or local initiatives including diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, training, and business resource councils

- Seek to learn quickly and strive to continually improve service offered

- Good prioritisation and multi-tasking skills

- Organises own workload and establishes priorities

SKILLS :

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint presentations

- Proactive and capable to handle multiple tasks under extremely time sensitive conditions.

- Excellent team management and motivation skills

- Demonstrating that planning activities and decision-making are done with the appropriate consideration for the level of risk involved

QUALIFICATIONS :

- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Master degree a plus

- Minimum 12 years of work experience in financial services industry with at least 7 years in Fund Administration Business.

- Preferably, someone who has managed span of minimum 50 people for 36 months officially, at a 2VP band

- Good understanding of trade economics related to various financial product transactions is an addition.

- Good product knowledge and understanding of futures, options, swaps, equities, derivatives and equivalent

- Experience with Hedge Funds, Investment Management and/or Financial Services strongly preferred

- Should be flexible for shifts and extended working hours.

- Strong knowledge of the financial markets, instruments and back office functions.
