Manager - New Product Development - Telecom (18-25 yrs)

New Product Development Manager

Purpose :

- Manage product development projects to support the business with accurate resource planning, budget planning and detailed project planning to deliver new product designs to agreed target specifications, budgets and timescales.

- Manage and supervise the Indian Telecom engineering team to ensure the design and maintenance of products is effective and optimized using the best available tools aligned with the business

- Set business priorities across for Engineering and NPI activities to guarantee the maximum commercial return

- Support the Product Management team in a variety of duties related to the product life-cycle management of product lines that are the responsibility of the Indian Telecoms business unit to achieve growth and profitability expectations.

Accountabilities :

- Assist with identification, development, and launch of new product offerings and support the creation and maintenance of business cases

- Identify and validate new product and product improvement opportunities through Voice of Customer (VoC).

- Ensure that the products are developed and launched effectively.

- Supervise NPD/NPI project teams to ensure project objectives are clear, cross-functional co-ordination is good and high quality outcomes (performance, cost, time) are achieved.

- Generate and maintain comprehensive plans for product development for the whole product life cycle that incorporate all elements needed for a successful project, are accurate and properly resourced.

- Analyzing potential supplier/partner relationships for the product

- Drive strategic Cost down initiative across the business

- Pro-actively drive risk management reviews and risk mitigation strategies for projects

- Guarantee a successful product launch by defining as overviewing safety stocks, and capacity.

- Maintain and communicate Market forecast of new products Regular Product Design and Test reviews are held with quality feedback and Project issues are high-lighted/red-flagged early and pro-actively solutions to problems found.

- Develop expertise in "Project Management" and ensure that the RPM-NPD process is complied with and make recommendations for improvements to the RPM-NPD process

- Adopt a commercial mindset to analyze product performance and sales success across the product life-cycle phases

- Use good commercial judgement to prioritize samples and customer interactions alongside NPD/NPI projects

- Documenting product profitability and operational metrics

- Define product target cost and drive the teams toward these goals

- Work with Marketing Communications to create and update product-orientated sales tools

- To ensure that the appropriate level of skills in the workforce are gained and retained and that succession planning and talent management are consistently and effectively coordinated.

- Regular team meetings are held and well managed with accurate and concise minutes and follow up with proactive communications

- Give pro-active , constructive , concise advise to management in a timely manner

- Pro-actively communicate best practices, goals, vision and set examples to follow at every opportunity.

- Motivate and instill a 'can-do' culture and an attitude to do things creatively and with innovation to achieve end goals

- Recruit and develop new hires

- Complete PPR and Individual development plans for subordinate(s) and pro-actively drive individual developments to improve their effectives and skill set in the organization.

- Make recommendations for tools and business cases to improve productivity

- Ensure the India telecom engineering team uses the globally designated processes and tool sets

- Support RMA Investigative work as required

- Agree annual objectives with staff and carry out performance planning & reviews, supported by the Head of Global Engineering

- Ensure all internal quality manuals and procedures are followed

Person Specification :

Essential :

Skills and knowledge :

- Good understanding of Electronics

- Understanding technical complexities

- Understanding of Oscillators, TCXO, TCOCXO, Frequency Control Products

- Project Management

- Good risk Management

- Good commercial acumen - MBA or similar certification

Qualifications required : Engineering Degree in Electronics and communication - Project Management certification
