Manager - Legal - Manufacturing Firm (10-20 yrs)

As Manager Legal - India, this person will be responsible to support the India business as a lead attorney for India from AMEA Legal team. Will be responsible to handle the India matters independently.


Will provide legal advice and support, with a particular focus on the review of commercial contracts, analysis and negotiation, business advisory, risk assessment and mitigation strategies, implementing and ensuring compliance with Corporate policies, managing litigation and dispute resolution, competition law, compliance, and other general legal and regulatory matters.


Will supervise a team with dotted line reporting. Will report to Head of Legal for AMEA and will collaborate closely with Avantor's Legal Department in Asia, Middle-East and Africa (AMEA) and on global level.

Responsibilities :

- Act as a leading attorney for India related matters of Avantor India and support the MEA region for transactional work

- Review, draft and negotiate various types of contracts and requests for proposals (RFPs)

- Provide advice and assistance regarding legal interpretations and analyses of the business risk of contracts

- Manage and lead all the India related litigation, outside counsel and work closely with relevant business leaders to resolve other disputes, file cases, represent the company and manage the complete litigation profile

- Provide legal advice and assistance to Regulatory, Quality, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and other departments

- Review, draft, implement and monitor compliance with policies

- Monitor and implement requirements under data privacy laws

- Supervise the team members for India team

- Collaborate closely with Avantor's regional and global Legal Department

- Perform other duties as assigned by AMEA Legal head.

Profile :

- Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant experience as in-house legal department of multinational company

- Law degree from a top university/law school and strong academic record

- A working experience or educational qualification outside of India will be preferred.

- Candidates with Manufacturing experience will be preferred

- At least 7 years of corporate transactional experience, with particular emphasis on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts, including customer, vendor and service contracts

- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed, international organization, supervise team, negotiate.

- Ability to work independently
