Manager - Legal - Litigation - Criminal Law (5-10 yrs)

Position : MGR. Legal (Criminal Law)

Qualification : LLB / LLM.

Job Role :

Purpose of the Role :

- To provide expert, commercial and cost effective legal advice while protecting the Company's franchise and minimizing legal risk.

- To ensure effective co-ordination, co-operation and the delivery of a consistent approach to the provision of legal advice and support.

Key Responsibilities :

- Coordinate with and supervise external counsel, and proactively monitor/drive litigation progress; review and advise on documentation in relation to legal proceedings.

- Assist in litigation related internal controls, reporting and centralized management.

- Assist in the review and execution of litigation management strategy.

- Management of litigation matters and related risks.

- Provide advise in relation to banking, finance and other financial services related dispute areas.

Critical Competencies :

- Decisiveness

- Background in litigation

- Transaction management and negotiation skills

- Good drafting and communication skills

- Problem solver

- Criminal Proceedings

- Proceedings under SARFAESI; Payment and Settlement System Act,2007; Criminal Procedure Code, 1973; Indian Penal Code

- Civil Proceedings

- Summary Suits and Ordinary Suits for recovery of monies; Original Applications, Appeals, Civil Suits praying for possession of property, specific performance of contract, rendition of accounts, partition and seeking damages; Appointment of Court Receivers; Execution of Decrees

- Arbitration / Mediation Proceedings

- Lok Adalat Proceedings

Other Significant Role Requirements :

- Ability to establish and maintain effective/strong relationships

- Ability to take a commercial approach to the application of technical knowledge

- Ability to keep up to date on relevant legal and market developments

- Ability to set and achieve high performance targets.

Technical Knowledge :

- Advocate qualification

- Good knowledge of the financial markets industry

- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.

People Management :

- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the legal team and business colleagues.
