Job Title : Manager - Indirect Tax Reports to : Head - Taxation Location : Gurgaon, India SUMMARY : The main responsibilities include the following : - To ensure compliance with Indirect tax laws including GST, rules, procedures and regulations. - To deal with tax and appellate authorities in connection with the assessment and other proceedings. This would include working in close coordination with the external consultants depending on the assignments. - Work on various Indirect tax projects SCOPE / DIMENSIONS OF ROLE : - The role holder primarily interacts with the Various Functions at the Corporate Office, Regional Offices and factories. - Externally, interaction mainly takes place with the Consultants RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES : The main tasks which support in carrying out the above responsibilities, includes following: - Timely filling of GST returns - To update and report the status of assessments, appeals and other verification/enquiries on a regular basis. - To work on various tax projects with functions like supply services, finance to harness optimization and business efficiencies - Act as tax consultant/advisor to various units/divisions within the company to ensure compliance and optimization of tax cost within the legal framework. This would include analysis of the provisions of GST law in this regard. - To ensure correct determination of GST liability and its timely deposit with the Government treasury. - To assist the company in handling pre-GST litigations on VAT / Service Tax Excise / customs issues. - To seek opinions and inputs from tax consultants and tax counsels. - To assist in handling the tax litigations at various appellate levels like Commissioner (Appeals), Tax Tribunals, State High Courts and Supreme Court of India. - To deal with tax authorities and other regulatory authorities for assessment and routine matters. KEY CHALLENGES : - The challenge for the role holder is to effectively coordinate with other functions to capture information and also to provide appropriate support to them as and when required. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE - Qualified CA. LLB will be added advantage - 4 to 6 years of experience in FMCG/Pharma Sector and / or Big 4 environment - Strong understanding of GST, VAT, Excise and other commercial laws PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES : - Track record of delivery, goal oriented, sets clear priorities and meet deadlines - Highly organized with ability to prioritize. Must be able to manage time effectively in a challenging environment. People management : Proven experience in leading managing and developing teams, able to influence people of all levels. This would include Cooperates positively as a team member with members of own department & other departments - Excellent communication skills Strong analytical skills : ability to define problems, collect data, analyse and interpret results and recommend changes and improvements - Able to quickly grasp new job requirements and/or more demanding tasks - Able to work with little or no supervision with accuracy and thoroughness - Works with organization to resolve issues, implements appropriate and timely solutions - Dedication, Reliable, Flexible and Punctual for work - Honesty and integrity in all dealings - Take accountability for actions and conduct in the workplace
