Manager - EHS - Mining (15-20 yrs)

JOB PURPOSE :

The EHS Manager is responsible for a range of activities associated with implementation of the Environment, Health and Safety plan according to company guidelines within target date. These activities will support the objective of establishing 'best practice' EHS Management Systems and a strong EHS culture.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Ensuring that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment. This includes compliance with the Mining safety management program.

2. Plan the entire EHS implementation across Mining locations in India, with necessary approvals, budget allocation and manage the task initially in implementation.

3. Direct EHS activities sites including: evaluating site hazards, customization of the EHS plan and related programs based on hazard assessment, orientation of new employees, and the development of an action plan to establish time frames for meeting specific targets

4. Facilitate the risk assessment process in sites and offices, wherever applicable and take appropriate action to reduce the level of the risks identified.

5. Identify local resources at site to be EHS ambassadors to maintain EHS culture locally

6. Lead and work with site EHS coordinators to develop and implement action plan to improve site safety performance. Track and measure corrective action and improvement

7. Conduct EHS awareness training (technical, management and process) for all levels of employees based on specific needs and requirements

8. Support the creation of EHS goals and appropriate activity based goals for the management, operations, sales and business support team to drive EHS culture throughout the Business Area

9. Develop and maintain systems that communicate EHS performance metrics and regularly report the progress of EHS goals

10. Act as an internal auditor in different locations in the territory

11. Appoint suitable accreditation body and assist in getting required certifications for sites by stipulated time in line with EHS plan

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES :

- Knowledge of EHS Standards in Mining Industry

- Business Understanding

- Communications Skills

- Persuasive Skills

EXPERIENCE : 15-20 years' relevant experience in implementing EHS standards in manufacturing industry and People Management.

EDUCATION : Qualification in Environmental Management and (or) Industrial Health and Safety

LICENCES & CERTIFICATES : Relevant Certificates in Environmental Management and (or) Industrial Health and Safety ;

OTHER INFORMATION : Extensive travel required.
