Overall Role Purpose:-

Main Experience in Technical Accounting

The manager will primarily be responsible for first review of technical accounting queries, hot reviews and facilitating the Helpdesk (reactive work), however, they will also be responsible for assisting more senior team members with activities relating to subject matter specialisms and other departmental 'non-reactive' activities.

This team primarily assist the audit practice with accounting and corporate reporting related consultations and compliance reviews of annual reports and accounts (ARAs) prior to signing the audit report. These functions are associated with managing risk as it relates to accounting and corporate reporting matters and incorporate the need for coaching/developing the audit practice in such matters with the overall aim of maintaining and promoting high quality audits. Team members will also provide local office support to the audit practice.

Managers will be able to fulfil their reactive work responsibilities to a high quality in a cost and time efficient manner with limited risk to the practice, with limited supervision of more senior NAS, FR team members. The manager should take ownership of their development in areas of technical accounting and corporate reporting and their practical application and will assist subject matter specialism leads with the aim of becoming subject matter specialists themselves.

Main Responsibilities: -

- Is aware of the importance of internal client relationships and develops contacts within other service lines.

- Should maintain and continue to build their own network both within the audit practice and within the NAS team.

- Understands the services of the company and be able to guide engagement teams to relevant specialist teams e.g. Audit Professional Services (APS), Quality Support Team (QST), Ethics and Valuations.

- Understands accounting frameworks (UK adopted IFRS and UK GAAP), statutory and other regulatory requirements and shows a willingness to learn about and apply these to various scenarios arising in the course of reactive work.

- Demonstrates excellent research skills including IT skills and thinks in a logical and structured manner.

- Performs hot reviews and responds to technical accounting queries, seeking the input of designated specialists and second reviewers as appropriate.

- Be able to deal with ad-hoc requests through the helpdesk, triage SDL submissions and communicate with engagement teams making appropriate recommendations based on complexity and risk with the assistance of more senior team members.

- Strong working knowledge of the firm's technical resources

- Keeps up to date with technical knowledge related to accounting and corporate reporting requirements to carry out role including this team and specified audit practice training events.

- Keeps up to date with the current professional debates and updates surrounding subject matter specialisms working closely with the subject matter specialism leads.

- Reaches appropriate initial conclusions on technical matters with limited initial consultation from more senior team members and communicates such both internally and externally in a simple, logical, and persuasive manner.

- Always ensures output is of high quality.

- Represent the company in a favorable light to all stakeholders
