Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - Assurance to lead audit engagements across multiple industries, with a primary focus on Real Estate Funds, Construction Companies, Commercial Properties, and REITs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end engagement execution, managing teams, liaising with onshore counterparts, and ensuring high-quality deliverables in line with professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple business units, overseeing a team of audit professionals and ensuring effective resource allocation, high-quality deliverables, and timely execution of engagement objectives.
- Plan, manage, and execute audit engagements, including risk assessments, materiality determinations, and audit strategy development.
- Act as a key liaison with onshore engagement teams and partners to ensure effective communication and timely delivery of audit milestones.
- Review and assess real estate investment valuations, financial models, and supporting documentation for compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Evaluate the reasonableness of accounting estimates related to investment property valuations, Promote Income, and construction revenue recognition.
- Audit complex carried interest and waterfall calculations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with partnership agreements, and appropriate profit distribution between General Partners (GPs) and Limited Partners (LPs).
- Assess and test internal controls over key business processes, including Financial Reporting, Journal Entries, and Related Party Transactions.
- Design and execute substantive and analytical audit procedures across significant business cycles.
- Manage and optimize offshore team resourcing for real estate sector clients, ensuring high-quality work delivery within defined timelines.
- Drive continuous improvement in audit quality, reporting accuracy, and control processes.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members to support their professional development.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of IFRS/US GAAP and relevant auditing standards.
- Proven expertise in real estate investment and fund structures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on audit quality.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in evaluating complex accounting estimates and financial models.
- Experience with internal control testing frameworks.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / ACCA/ MBA/ M.COM/ CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification of experience in audits, with at least 4 years focused on Commercial Real Estate Funds or similar real estate sectors, including team leadership
- Mandatory experience in US GAAP; mixed or other reporting framework experience is not accepted.
- Experience with Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firms preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Commercial real estate sector Funds clients is highly desirable.
