Purpose of role : 

This is a leadership role involving technical as well as people leadership. The main deliverable to this role is to Lead Analytical & Measurement Science Programmes which will support business deliverable. The role will also help create a strong analytical and measurement science capability within the R&D function.

Qualification & Experience : 

- M.Sc/ Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from a leading educational institute. Should have expertise and experience in handling instruments like HPLC/GC/FTIR/Microscopy techniques etc.

Experience : 7-8 yrs out of which one or two years of experience in a research setting is preferred. Experience in FMCG industry and or Oils and fat chemistry is preferred. 1 to 2 years experience of leading a team is preferred.

Key Deliverables of the Role:

1. Create and lead the measurement science vertical for R&D. The vertical includes analytical sciences and physical sciences for skin hair and foods.

2. Create research programs aligned with business deliverables for the measurement sciences team

3. Support the NPD teams for competition benchmarking, claim support and method development and validation for key actives/technologies.

4. Stability monitoring for key technologies/NPDs.

5. Alternate RM/Vendor development.

6. Collaborating with external labs, research institutes etc for endorsement of claim support studies and also for building capability for emerging techniques methods in the field of measurement sciences.

7. Cohesive working with key stakeholders in the formulation, supply chain, and quality functions.

8. Track technology and competitor trends in analytical chemistry nd be able to create strategic scenarios for new techniques in analytical science.

9. Capability building within the R&D team.

Skills and Competencies :

- Domain knowledge - The candidate should have in-depth domain knowledge in analytical science. Should have done basic research in the area stated at conception, planning and execution levels.

- Must exhibit strong market orientation to know the technology and competitive trends in analytical science.

- Should have high level of entrepreneurial drive to lead the projects within organizations and outside (collaborative) organization for meeting the business deadlines

- Should exhibit strong mentoring capability/attitude to update the science levels within organization to meet global levels.

- Should have adequate knowledge about aspects of technology which impact commercial viability of projects

- Should be conversant with new IT tools for efficient and effective project completion.

Reporting Relationships - The role reports into Head Nourishment Nature care, Measurement science and Advanced technology.
