About Role :


- Are you looking for a big, new challenge in a fast-paced company? Make history with the TerraPay legal department.

- We seek a growth-minded lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving payments businesses. You will be responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, and structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions. 


- You will work directly with the business, serving as lead counsel on strategic deals, providing day-to-day advice, resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. You will report to the General Counsel directly.

Job Responsibilities :

- Build on, and continuously optimize, the existing legal framework, processes and documentation 

- Manage day-to-day operation of the legal program for TerraPay operations. Implementation of legal/risk protocols by documenting these procedures, contributing information, analysis, and recommendations and translating these into deliverables

- Working in collaboration with the business (in particular: business-ops, tech-ops, compliance and business development teams) to achieve these goals

- Liaising with, and managing, outsourced secretarial, finance and tax personnel to ensure that all entities- secretarial/filing responsibilities are met, and being responsible for the comprehensive updating and maintenance of all TerraPay document management

- Monitoring and as necessary, co-ordinating legal activities across the business and identifies any potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops / implements plans for resolution or problem solving

- Maintain legal/risk awareness at every level of the organization, especially at the executive level, to set the tone-at-the-top. Further this through ongoing training and communications across the business

- Has a detailed working of the rules and regulations in the UK, Mauritius, and other FATF level rules/ countries in which we operate

- Build and maintain relations with relevant regulators in countries we are entering into; also with authorities, banks, working alongside management team in proactively managing these relationships

- Maintain and execute global Legal self-service programmes and platforms, and coordinate with Compliance on Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering & Counter Terrorist Financing, especially Partner Due Diligence and Oversight, and Data Protection working alongside the team is successful delivery of this agenda

- Develop and enhance the Enterprise Risk Management framework for credit, market, operational, compliance, strategic and reputation risks and implement risk-return measurement and analysis methodologies
