ABOUT MAGIC BUS

Founded in 1999, Magic Bus works with children and young people living in poverty, in India, taking them from a childhood full of challenges to a life with meaningful livelihoods. We equip children and young people in the age group of 12 to 18, with the skills and knowledge they need to grow up and move out of poverty.

Children on the Magic Bus programme successfully fend off destabilizers such as child marriage and child labour to complete school and become first-generation salary earners having secure careers in the organised sector.

Our youth-centered Livelihoods Programme connects the aspirations and potential of young people to available market opportunities. We build their employability skills and map job potential based on individual strengths and mobility.

We work with support structures like parents, teachers, the community at large and local government institutions to ensure social, emotional and economic well-being for all young people living in that area. Our approach mobilises the entire ecosystem available to the child or young person to create transformational change in their lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE :

The role holder, via the urban centric skill development programme shall be responsible for achieving high impact at scale, for thousands of young adults living in poverty and aspire to start earning at a young age. Your role will ensure that Magic Bus consistently reaches out to youths in marginalized communities. Your program will ensure that there is maximum employability and employment of youths trained. Your role will also spearhead Magic Bus's mission of impacting 100000 youths very year via the Livelihoods programme.

You shall lead the program team that delivers the program across multiple states and in India.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead, inspire and mentor employees who will deliver the programme every week across a wide geography

- Focused on high quality programme reaching every youth in need each week and be obsessive about impact of the programme.

- Oversee the design and implementation of ambitious portfolio of high quality, well-managed and impactful programs which brings about positive changes in the lives of youths from under-privileged sections of the society.

- Institutionalize strong systems and processes including program execution and automating the processes wherever appropriate for efficiency and effectiveness. This could include rolling out of newer initiatives or pilot projects.

- Ensuring complete technology adoption throughout the program operations

- As a key member of the Senior Executive Team, you will make a leading contribution to the overall strategy and organizational development of Magic Bus, to strengthen co-ordination and collaboration within and across teams, institutionalize the Magic Bus culture and strategies planned.

- You will need to travel to locations, meet the team, study the programme and constantly improve programme quality

- You will provide support to Curriculum and Program Development team by giving feedback and inputs to strengthen the design of the programme

- Work along with Fundraising team to plan and execute the programme expansion

- Work along with the M&E / Impact team to understand the impact of the programmes and include feedback to enhance the quality of programme delivery

- Standardize the programme delivery processes - programme implementation plans, sessions, training, monitoring and reporting

- Drive initiatives to motivate team and boost their morale

- Develop an eco-system that can collaborate and create deeper and wider impact

- Build strong next level of leaders who can manage and execute their responsibilities independently and uphold MB culture.

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive Officer

STAFF REPORTING: Director - Livelihoods & Partnerships / Regional Livelihoods Heads

PEER TEAM : Strong support team at HO for various functions like Curriculum, Training, M&E, IT, Finance, Admin, Operations and HR

- Has great connect within the Skill development ecosystem

- Ability to strategise the programme while being operationally connected.

- Ability to connect with key stakeholders that include donors, partners and Government

- Business savvy, strategic in nature and is able to translate them into operating plan

- Has an eye for detail and can systematize processes

- Takes quick, appropriate and inclusive Decisions

- Adaptable and can manage change

- Self-starter, right attitude, communicates effectively, strong interpersonal relationship and analytical abilities, Understanding of benefits of technology, inspire people across levels and exceptional team handling capabilities.

- Ability to understand culture and ethos of Magic Bus and promote the same.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Graduate in any disciplines with a minimum of 20 years of experience in Skill development. Should have led large teams and has experience in development processes, leveraging of IT and ensuring high quality delivery. Preferred experience in a large social sector organization.
