Local OPEX Expert (10-12 yrs)

Main objectives of the position

- Co-responsible for the local establishment and further development as well as implementation of value streams, taking into account the defined lean principles and the existing production system.

- "Sparring partner" of the value stream leader.

Impact on Business (i.e. business contribution, nature and scope of responsibility, risk and financial management, strategic/tactical/operative responsibility)

- Generation of a performance oriented and positive spirit for OPEX with the objective to achieve shortest Throughput Times

- Create and execute strategic plans to accelerate OPEX implementation towards achieving "world class production centre"

- To be an active participant and work closely with Global OPEX team members to implement OPEX activities

- Assist functional managers in taking responsibility for OPEX activities, and also transferring the necessary knowledge that will enable line managers to drive further improvements

- Coordinate with respective HOD's and ensure the production / assembly methodology or process is fool proof and cost effective

- Develop and maintain required performance statistics of the department / team to monitor the performance levels and to take necessary actions

- Ensure at all times that improvements activities / initiatives conform to current Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards

- Sparring partner of value stream manager: monitoring, standardization & training and consulting

Innovation and Change (i.e. range and diversity of activities, problems, processes, market dynamics and management challenges that need to be recognized and resolved, improvement of processes, systems or products)

- Apparent management qualities, creativity, process thinking, strength of implementation and analytics, competence in Lean methods

- Imbibe techniques such as Lean Manufacturing and Total Quality Management to reduce waste and improve production processes

- Application of methods with the focus of establishing a value stream oriented organization according to the production system divided into the core processes

- Responsible for the development and continuous improvement of core work processes for the realization of value stream maturity levels (OPEX assessment) split into core processes

- Design and implementation of framework conditions that enable and encourage the organisation to make cultural changes (goal: establishment of a learning organisation) => Change Manager split into core processes at value stream level

Communication with internal and/or external Customers, Suppliers as well as Third Parties (indicate nature and context of client relationship and service delivery, required communication skills, frequency of communication (i.e. infrequent = few times a year, occasional = few times a month, frequent= regular but not daily, continuous = daily)

- Communicate with Head Quarters as appropriate on the matters related to OPEX activities

- Liaising with suppliers for sharing lean manufacturing concepts and industries best practices

- Rarely involved in negotiations with suppliers (together with Purchasing and Global Supplier Integration Management) - only consulting division

- Regular training of the value stream organisation and holding of local workshops in accordance with the core processes

- Regular coordination with internal groups (e. g. value stream managers, department heads, etc. )

- Regular coordination with the local team according to the respective core process

People Leadership (i.e. management, motivation and development of staff as well as teamwork)

- Building team spirit among the workmen and also motivating by means of personal involvement

- Responsible, together with respective HODs for training and development in the area of responsibility

- Conducting technical / lean techniques trainings on regular basis to enhance the competency levels

- Work along with respective HOD's of GPC and facilitate to conduct workshops to review current performance and to set performance goals in-line with GPC's goals and target for the future

Educational Background

(necessary for the position, not necessarily the educational background of the current position holder)

1. Technical studies with focus on management & production engineering

2. Very good OPEX / Lean skills

Professional Knowledge and Experiences

(Years of relevant business experience necessary for the position. Consider the minimum knowledge required to perform the responsibilities of this position.)

Atleast 10 years of experience is required.

With corresponding previous experience as head of department or team leader
