Job Description

1.Product Development

- Manage new product development process and approvals on the product development lifecycle

- Ensure Competitive price benchmarking as per industry margins standards

- Ensure to meet deadlines as per the marketing launch calendar & constantly update training manuals

- High customer focus; constant focus groups to understand customer needs

- Ensure all legal procedures are followed & maintain quality standards

2.Buying Budget & Planning:

- Determine buying requirements and formulate buying plan and budget for the assigned category

- Align the buying plan to the concept business plan and the merchandising strategy

- Help meet the profit targets by ensuring timely procurement of the category Merchandise

- Pursue cost reduction measures through centralized bulk buying and/ or selecting appropriate vendor mix

3.Vendor & Product Research

- Identify and leverage alternate buying & sourcing opportunities to ensure competitive edge by constant renegotiation

- Ensure effective communication, collation, and follow-up on product requirements and findings obtained from the sales/store data

- Stay on top of the latest trends in buying and discuss the same with the department/category Manager from time to time to assess realignment of existing processes

- Gather information from Industry trade groups or through trade shows/market visits

4.Vendor & Order Management

- Place orders as per buying plan & ensure delivery as per Service Level Agreement

- Follow the reverse logistics guidelines to send the faulty / damaged goods back to the vendor

- Develop an adequate vendor base for the concept through active scouting and negotiation/renegotiation

- Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers and negotiate the best deals with them for procuring merchandise

Job Experience

- 6+ years of buying experience in the category

- Knowledge of product range development

- Preferably, has exposure to GCC market
