Role : Legal Head
Scope : Oversee all legal matters of the company
Key Expected Contributions
1. Subject matter expertise in corporate law, coverage, liability and damage analysis
2. Thorough understanding and experience with litigation process and statutory law
3. Claim experience and technical expertise to evaluate severe and complex claims
4. Legal claims ratio.
5. Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners, customers, agents and regulatory agencies
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities
1. Act as an internal adviser on all legal matters and liaison with external authorities where required.
2. Investigate, negotiate and advice for settlement or litigation for disputes, claims or lawsuit
3. Resolution and effective handling of claims for cargo, commercial and legal, maximising cost effectiveness
4. Manage third party notification, damage notice and recovery in certain incidents
5. Decide on oranisation’s liability in case of any damages basis bill of lading terms and conditions
6. Represent oranisation’s Line in custom penalty matters
7. Responsible for establishing and operating within agreed budgets
8. Monitor survey cost and reduce annual spend of claims pay-out
9. Review and approve settlement of claims
10. Co-ordination with central claims team and external stakeholders
11. Monthly/ periodic reporting to management
12. Review and legally advise on Vendor contracts and liabilities thereof.
13. Representing the company’s interests with the customers on credit agreements and collections.
Requirements
Education: Professional Degree in Law
Experience:
1. Minimum 9-12 yrs of experience in corporate laws.
2. Experienced in handling legal aspects of claims and dispute resolution.
3. Must be familiar with changing legislation and insurance related decisions which could impact the way claims are processed
4. Familiar with Maritime Law
5. Able to communicate across various levels
6. Strong IT skills .
