Legal Counsel - EdTech - LLB (5-8 yrs)

Our client is a pioneer in the education space, having started operations more than 3 decades ago. Started by a group of IIM alumnus, their first product truly set the benchmark for CAT test preparation. Since then, they have gone on to become a full stack platform for test preparation and upskilling for careers with a global footprint.

The company is among the very few profitable and publicly listed edtech companies in India and is well respected for it's leadership talent and diversified product range.

As an In-House Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance and support across the organization.

What you will do:

- Providing legal advice and support to the organization across a broad range of legal areas, including but not limited to corporate law, contract law, intellectual property law, and employment law

- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including technology licenses and vendor agreements

- Ensuring compliance with legal requirements and regulations specific to the edutech industry

- Working closely with the management team to identify and mitigate legal risks in product development and marketing

- Managing litigation and dispute resolution processes, including liaising with external legal counsel where necessary

- Staying up-to-date with changes in legislation and case law that may affect the organization in the edutech industry

- Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures to ensure the organization's compliance with legal requirements in the edutech industry

- Providing legal training to staff across the organization to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and other legal requirements

- Assisting with other tasks as required, including administrative and operational tasks

What you need to have:

- LLB or equivalent legal qualification

- 5-8 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in-house or at a law firm focused on edutech clients

- Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, intellectual property law and employment law

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent organizational skills

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines

- Willingness to undertake other tasks as required
