Who we are :

We are an IIT Bombay startup building an amazing hardware electronic product which analyzes how users consume electricity and provide insights where all wastage is happening and try to reduce it. In order to do so we deploy our hardware which is packed with six sensors and energy monitoring device. The amount of data we get is tremendous and the possibilities to make use of this data are infinite. Right now we are focused on optimizing power usage.

The entire team is from IIT Bombay who have worked in Siemens, Goldman Sachs, Co-founded Housing.com etc. We offer the toughest problems to solve, a fabulous product to work on and better than industry standard remunerations but we are very selective to ensure only the best of the brains get to work on this product.

Job Description:

Job Title: Purchasing / Procurement Manager

Purpose:

- The Purchasing Manager will form an integral part of the Purchasing function in the achievement of Operational objectives. With a strong, solid background in purchasing and supply chain management, the candidate will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes.

- The role is key to leading the Company forward in securing quality suppliers of materials and components covering price delivery and quality targets.

Scope:

- The Purchasing Manager will initially report into the Operation Manager and will support the whole purchasing team to achieve targets set. Ensuring training and development of the team is kept at the forefront of daily activities and support all members of the purchasing and operations team.

- The role will have a clear project focus, supporting the purchasing function at a strategic level to help achieve objectives required to aid production of existing and new product development. The role is primarily focus on purchasing and procurement for hardware and electronics components

Main Responsibilities:

- Managing and controlling all the company's external suppliers with particular emphasis on the purchase of electronics Materials and for production and or R&D activities

- Ensure parts and materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time

- Establish strategic relationships with key suppliers (probably turnkey including design) who are aligned to the company's needs.

- Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discount structures and volume rebates.

- Foster close working relationships with associated departments eg. Sales, Engineering and Production, Business Development.

- Continually improve purchasing methods and drive down external spend.

- To carry out a comprehensive review of the Purchasing function and its methodology and identify and implement improvements.

Production Efficiencies:

- Material Costs - stringent material control is required to assure company targets are met. The includes spend, usage, scrap, inventory levels etc

New Products / Product Developments:

- Full involvement specifically with technical and sales departments on the evaluation of new and existing materials and their successful integration to the production end of the business. This will include identifying current and future trends.

Personal Competences - Purchasing Manager

Qualifications And Experience:

- Degree qualified or equivalent in a business related subject

- Minimum 4 years previous experience in a Purchasing role at a consumer electronics company

- High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, as a minimum)

- Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing a robust supplier base.

- Able to bring a new dimension to procurement activities.

- Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques.

- Experience of Purchasing bespoke, manufactured parts including scheduled deliveries. Experience of working with MRP systems is essential.

- Direct Supplier and Commodity management for a specific number of Commodities/Suppliers.

- Representing the section at internal meetings and presenting Purchasing performance achievements

- Management and coordination of Purchasing activities

- Management and coordination of Purchasing activities with relation to Cost, Delivery and Quality performance

Personal:

- Strong leadership skills and proven experience in staff development

- Hand on- approach to all tasks

- Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results

- Versatile, tenacious and people orientated

- Result orientated and confident

- Proven appreciation of customer service expectations and cost demands of business

- Commercial and financial acumen

- Developing sub-ordinates skills and competencies and defines development needs

- Sets priorities taking into account short and long-term needs of the business.
