Leader - Taxation - BPO/ITeS (10-28 yrs)

Mandatory Qualification : Chartered Accountant

India Head of Tax reporting to Global Head of Tax. In addition to strong tax technical capabilities, candidate must demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring skills to ensure optimal performance of India tax team. The candidate must also be a team player who thrives on collaborating closely with other tax and finance department professionals located across the globe in extremely collegial and supportive work environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

The candidate will assume overall responsibility of the following items. The candidate will be supported by and lead the India tax team, including experienced members.

A) Processes and Systems :

- Responsible for leading a team of tax professionals to ensure:

- On time delivery of accurate tax reports, returns and payments through effective and efficient management and operation of the direct and indirect tax compliance processes

- Preparation, calculation, recording, and reporting tax provisions, effective tax rates and other management assurances including tax account balances and reconciliations in an accurate and timely manner-


- Efficient and reliable execution of the periodic global transfer pricing operational framework

- Ensure proper compliance with tax laws and regulations, including representing the company before the Indian tax authorities and resolving tax disputes as necessary

- Effectively operate/implement/manage/organize all India related direct and indirect tax controls (including SOX)

B) People and Stakeholder Management and Knowledge Management

Proactively engage and maintain strong stakeholder and business connectivity; successfully maintain key relationships within India management team. Candidate will closely support and interact with India CFO, India Head of Legal, India Head of Human Resources, Executive Director for India, and the Mobility and local Treasury teams.

- Provide strong functional leadership to the India team involved in direct and indirect tax filing and reporting activities

- Manage and coach team members

- Proactively engage with business and country tax teams to enable business knowledge sharing

- Support continuous professional development and optimal practices in the India tax team

KEY ACTIVITIES:

A. Group Tax Reporting <<India Specific >>

- Current and deferred income tax recognition and reporting

- Effective rate analysis

- Assessment of foreign tax credits and impact

- Tax balance sheet analysis

- Analysis of tax sensitive provisions, deferred tax balances and any required ASC 740 reserves

- Owning and operating relevant tax internal controls including SOX controls

- Providing quarterly tax projections

B. India Tax Disputes/Litigation Management

- Ensure proper compliance with tax laws and regulations, including representing the company before tax authorities and resolving tax disputes

- Must have at least 10 years of dispute resolution experience with strong knowledge of tax procedural processes - i.e., appeals, remediation, court filings, etc.

C. India Tax Compliance

- Compliance with filing of direct and indirect tax returns

- Compliance with SEZ and STPI laws

- Supporting audit defence and group tax initiatives

D. Support for Business Transactions, Including M&A

- Collaborating/partnering and supporting business teams and management of external tax advisors on M&A transactions

- Understanding and advising on the India tax implications of significant transactions including exposure to a wide range of domestic and cross-border tax issues

ATTRIBUTES OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The role requires strong knowledge of India tax legislation and compliance requirements as well as tax relevant IND-AS, USGAAP, and IFRS

- Qualified Chartered Accountant

- Strong knowledge and experience in India tax law and practice

- Strong understanding of control frameworks, specifically in a tax environment and tax accounting under IGAAP, USGAAP and/or IFRS

- Possesses strong leadership acumen with specific emphasis on authenticity, growth, collaboration and performance for leading and creating passionate professional teams

- Passionate about tax with ability to communicate of complex tax issues, both written and oral, to non-tax personnel and demonstrate professional curiosity and resilience

- Likely profile >20 years broad professional tax experience in Big 4 professional services firm, or tax teams of multinational corporations with filing and reporting responsibilities and experience in business taxation
