Lead - Sourcing, Strategy, Costing & Contract Management (Solar & eBoP) and ( Wind & eBoP)

This role commands the sourcing, strategy, costing, and contract lifecycle for solar and eBoP components. Responsibilities encompass developing granular, bottom-up cost models for all key components (modules, inverters, mounting structures, etc.), rigorously benchmarking prices against domestic and international market standards, expertly leading commercial negotiations with vendors to secure optimal terms, and formulating and executing comprehensive supply chain strategies to minimize total cost of ownership. Furthermore, the role demands in-depth analysis of evolving market dynamics, fluctuating commodity prices, and government policies (ALMM, BCD, GST, PLI schemes, etc.) impacting solar procurement decisions to ensure a competitive edge.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Costing & Price Benchmarking (Solar & e-BoP):


- Provide component wise (Solar Module, inverter, mounting structure, cables, transformers, trackers, BOS etc. ) costing & updated industry benchmarks to bidding and BD teams to ensure optimal IRRs while bidding.

- Develop bottom-up cost models for key solar components:

- Modules, inverters, mounting structures, cables, transformers, trackers, BOS.

- Conduct cost breakdown analysis (BOM/BOP) to determine target pricing for procurement.

- Benchmark supplier costs across domestic & international markets to optimize sourcing.

- Track commodity price fluctuations (steel, aluminium, copper, and logistics) and assess cost impact on above Solar / BoS components.

- As a subject matter expert track commodity price trends based on geopolitical events and suggest sourcing / hedging strategies to be ahead of curve.

Commercial & Vendor Negotiations:


- Support price negotiations with solar suppliers using detailed cost models.

- Structure long-term supply agreements (LTAs), volume discounts, and risk mitigation strategies.

- Work closely with the supply chain & procurement teams to drive cost savings, delivery schedules, & supplier performance.


- Evaluate vendor proposals from a commercial & technical perspective.

- Prepare and manage Solar Module supply agreements and other key Solar component contracts aligned with best of industry terms and condition.

Supply Chain Strategy & Procurement Support:


- Identify strategic sourcing opportunities for reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

- Analyse import duties, taxes, and logistics costs to optimize procurement strategies.


- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and finance teams for cost-effective vendor selection.

- Track government policies (ALMM, BCD, GST, ISTS waivers, PLI scheme) on Solar industry and its impact on our supply chain strategy.

- Ensure compliance with supply chain risk mitigation, quality & sustainability requirements.

- Work closely with the central supply chain & procurement teams, engineering teams to drive cost savings via negotiations, delivery schedules, & supplier performance.

- Develop and implement cost-effective procurement strategies to optimize project budgets.

- Continuously evaluate market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Collaborate with the project team to control procurement expenses and achieve cost targets.

Materials and Inventory Management:


- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, ensuring that project sites have the necessary materials and equipment.

- Oversee the ordering and delivery of materials, coordinating with project schedules to avoid

delays.

Market & Policy Analysis (Solar):


- Stay updated on government policies, duties, and trade regulations impacting solar procurement.

- Assess Make in India vs. imported procurement strategies based onSolar: ALMM, BCD, GST, ISTS waivers, PLI scheme.

- Provide market intelligence on Chinese, European, and Indian manufacturing trends in solar.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:


- MBA (Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance) preferred.

- 10-12 years in renewable energy supply chain, procurement, cost modelling, or commercial negotiations Industry.

- Preference: Solar, Renewable Energy, EPC, Power Equipment, Electricals, Industrial Manufacturing.

Key Requirements:


Technical & Functional Skills:


- Strong understanding of solar components & BOS pricing.

- Expertise in cost modelling, price benchmarking & vendor negotiations.

- Knowledge of ALMM, BCD, GST, ISTS exemptions, SECI tenders, and PLI schemes.

- Proficiency in Excel, cost analysis tools & procurement software (SAP, Ariba, etc.).

- Ability to evaluate technical & commercial aspects of supplier proposals
