Lead Scientist - Research - Plant Breeding

Position Summary :

As a Plant Breeder, you will be responsible to develop commercial hybrids from the Plant Breeding programs of a reputed company. Should have entrepreneurial spirit, be creative and result oriented breeder and work to develop and strengthen the hybrid pipeline to align with market / customer requirement.

Job Descriptions :

- Setup research strategies, design & lead the breeding program with a clear focus on developing superior hybrids.

- Explore, Manage, Maintain and StrengthenGermplasm base.

- Evaluation of Parental lines and Identification of Elite parents.

- Spearhead Hybrid development programme and identify potential hybrids for commercial deployment.

- Work in close collaboration with operating teams for conducting large scale demonstration trials.

- Liaise with ICAR Institutes and initiate mandatory trials for generating data in All India Co-ordinated network projects to enable Commercial release of Hybrids.

- Maintain parents and Plan Hybrid Seed Production and monitor post-harvest seed processing operations.

- Maintenance of quality and purity of seeds, pollen viability through robust protocols.

- Knowledge of global technology platform to develop best hybrids for Indian farmers.

- Knowledge on new breeding approaches and their applications.

- Develop Alliances & Collaborations with leading institutions & organizations in the India/world.

Required Qualification :

- PhD/M.Sc. in Plant Breeding & Genetics from a reputed Institute in India.

- A minimum 10 years of experience in plant breeding & development of hybrids in commercial crops in reputed seed companies.
