Lead - Public policy & Research - Air Pollution Domain (8-12 yrs)

Job Duties and Accountabilities :

Air Pollution Research :

- To conceptualize new research ideas that are aligned with the program objectives.

- To develop a series of publications including policy briefs, reports, as well as high-quality peer-reviewed national and international journals.

- To verify data provided by research analysts/program associates, and evaluate, organize, analyse and extrapolate the data using multiple statistical tools.

- To keep a tab on the policy developments in India, and provide analytical inputs, comments, and responses as required

Air Pollution Research Management :

- Take ownership of specific projects and provide supervisory support to other projects.

- Proactively manage project deliverables, resources within time, and budgets.

- Fundraise for new projects, and manage donor relations associated with the programme.

- Support effective communication of research outputs, through close coordination with outreach team, engagement with wider network of stakeholders, and concerned policymakers.

- Support senior team members for important meetings and sessions, prepare notes, and conduct follow-ups, as required.

- Oversee and support team members to help them deliver their best.

Air Pollution Engagement :

- To engage extensively with government ministries and departments both at the national and state level .

- To present research to key constituencies, advisory bodies, research institutes.

- To develop research networks locally, nationally and internationally in support of research programs.

- To develop strong relationships with government agencies, funders, and strategic partners .

Selection Criteria :

Education :

- Master's or PhD degree with specialisation in engineering, economics, public policy, law or related field.

- Should have a strong research background, including an understanding of analytical and experimental research

- Familiarity and a high degree of comfort with quantitative skills and analyses .

Business experience :

- At least seven to ten years of relevant work experience in the field of research, policy engagement and project management, preferably in the area of pollution, and how we can mobilise governments to work towards curbing it.

- Strong track record of project management and timely delivery of outputs

- Experience in dealing with public and private institutions.

- Building relationships with collaborators and government stakeholders.

Skills :

- Deep understanding of the public policy space sector in India .

- Strong analytic skills including quantitative research skills (use of R, Stata, SPSS, Python or such software).

- Excellent written and oral communication skills .

- Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals/book chapters.

- Desirable: Knowledge of behavioural economics/science.
