Job Title: LEAD - PARTNERSHIPS (REAL ESTATE & INDUSTRY)

Reports to: DIRECTOR, SOLAR DECATHLON INDIA AND TO THE DIRECTOR, MARKETING ALLIANCES & PARTNERSHIP AT AEEE

Location: NEW DELHI OR BANGALORE

Introduction:

Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) supports policy implementation and enables the energy efficiency market with a not-for-profit motive. AEEE promotes energy efficiency as a resource and collaborates with industry and government to transform the market for energy-efficient products and services, thereby contributing toward meeting India's goals on energy security, clean energy, and climate change. AEEE collaborates with diverse stakeholders such as policymakers, government officials, business and industry, consumers, researchers, and civil society organizations.

About the Solar Decathlon India:

The Solar Decathlon India is a challenge among postgraduate and undergraduate students from Indian institutions to learn and design net-zero-energy-water, affordable, and resilient design solutions for real, live projects to combat Climate Change through the buildings sector.

Solar Decathlon India is conducted by the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) and the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) under the aegis of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). It is supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, MacArthur Foundation and DesignBuilder.

Student teams develop affordable and industry-ready solutions for real projects with the help of online Self-Learning Modules and expert mentorship provided during this year-long challenge. It is a hands-on, practical, innovation-based challenge that moves the construction and real estate industry towards implementing net-zero solutions developed by students. The participating teams in Solar Decathlon India engage in real building projects by partnering with developers, clients, or other real estate proponents, they introduce market-ready, and scalable solutions that can combat Climate Change.

Reason to hire:

AEEE is looking for a seasoned professional to come on board as Lead- Partnerships (Real Estate & Industry). The incumbent will fill a critical gap in having an industry expert who will help take Solar Decathlon India event to the next level, by connecting with developers, project and industry partners, and experts/mentors to be part of the event. The incumbent will play a key role in evangelising, identifying potential partnership and funding opportunities, with Ministries, public and private sector organizations, and Academia. As part of AEEE, the role will also be a bridge between the research team(s) and the Solar Decathlon team, and help leverage connections, learnings, partnerships and funding opportunities for AEEE with the key ecosystem stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Build new and strengthen existing relationships with real estate developers, NGOs, government officials to get them to participate in Solar Decathlon India as Project Partners.

- Deepen these partnerships in creative and meaningful ways towards the objectives of Solar Decathlon India.

- Develop relationships with technology and business incubation providers.

- Provide strategic insights, direction and work towards making real on-the-ground impact of Solar Decathlon India. This will include internships and placements for the participants, and opportunities to take designs in to prototype and construction.

- Mentor the Solar Decathlon India core-team members to help them understand value proposition of specific partnerships and relationships.

- Mentor the Solar Decathlon India core-team members to help them understand the strength in the areas of building design, construction, ownership, operations, finance, leasing.

- Lead the matchmaking of the participating teams and project partners.

- Make presentations and communicate with partners.

- Work closely with AEEE's Membership and 'Sustainable Buildings Designs' team in getting new members from the above real estate fraternity and allied industries like building material, technology, infrastructure finance companies, etc., to join AEEE.

- Explore partnership, collaboration, and fund-raising opportunities with these organizations (and industry bodies) - not restricted to syndicated research, programme consultations, outreach, capacity building, etc.

- Work with AEEE's research team(s) in identifying synergies with Solar Decathlon India's learning and output, for benefitting research outcomes, technical knowledge sharing, etc.

Note: The roles and responsibilities outlined above are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks. The need for flexibility is required and the job holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

Must Haves:

- Minimum 15 years of professional experience

- Good understanding of how buildings are put together, and strength in more than one area of: design, construction, ownership, operations, finance, leasing of buildings.

- Some exposure to green buildings, building science, energy efficiency, water efficiency in buildings.

- Connections with several real estate developers; companies involved in building design, modelling, material, and technology supplies; NGOs, government agency officials etc.

- Experience with working in large project teams

- Excellent verbal communication skills and good written communication skills, including the ability to make short presentations or pitches.

- A keen interest and passion to work in the development sector
