- The position in discussion is with Capability Hubs (CH) team at KPMG Global Services (KGS), which is KPMG's knowledge services hub and is an integral part of the firm's strategy to enhance innovation, build scalability, and improve profitability.

- KGS- CH is integral to the firm's strategy of enhancing innovation, building scalability and improving profitability. This Unit is currently 750+ members- strong capability.

- KGS CH has been offering deep insights and solutions to KPMG's practitioners across service lines viz. Audit, Tax and Advisory (Deal Advisory, Management Consulting and Risk Consulting) globally.

Roles and responsibilities : 

We are recruiting for a Senior Analyst in the Benchmarking team.


Working as a Senior Analyst in the team, your responsibilities will include:

- Contribute to research and benchmarking assignments - either as a part of an ongoing client engagement, or as a part of business development efforts conducted by the entity

- Connect with research users (advisors from KPMG member firms across the world) to understand project objectives, scope, and deliverables. This role would ideally involve working collaboratively with onshore KPMG teams, assisting global sector leadership and client account teams in their business pursuits and client engagements

- Effectively manage the request intake process including participating in project scoping calls to clarify understanding and prepare a detailed project scope document

Conceive, design and execute secondary research on TMT, including but not restricted to:

- Company Research: business model, segments, revenue model, strategy, issues / challenges, M&A history, competitive positioning, organization structure, key management, recent developments, SWOT, etc.

- Industry research: industry value chain, size and growth outlook, trends and drivers, growth inhibitors and challenges, competitive landscape, Porter's / PESTLE analysis, etc.

- Financials: broad analysis of income statement, balance sheet, cash flows, ratios, segment performance, etc.

- Competitors: comparative performance of companies on financial and operational KPIs, relative strengths and weaknesses, etc.

- Drive the analysis of the above to draw key insights; being able to effectively map a company's strategy and pain points to KPMG's services, in order to identify and advise practitioners on possible business development opportunities /scope; deliver insights on client engagements; etc.

- Articulate findings through visually appealing / appropriate frameworks and in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct business English (both written and verbal)

- Ensure effective presentation of client deliverables - prepare client ready presentations that are well structured, logical and clear to understand

- Guide Business Associates (BA) across each stage of projects- from communicating client requirements, scoping and work allocation, to continuous supervision and review across secondary research, analysis and discussions, story-lining, and preparing deliverables

- Ensure highest quality (for self and team member's output) and on-time delivery for all the projects

- Independently handle multiple projects, with minimal supervision from Manager/Assistant Manager

- Drive the team's operations (staffing, MI, etc.) and key initiatives (such as training, team get together, BD collaterals, etc.)

- Prepare client deliverables (MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Word) - prepare client ready presentations that are well structured, logical and clear to understand

- Undertake exhaustive research for deliverables and triangulate information and data points from various data sources

- Suggest alternative data sources/research methodologies, suggest proxies and run creative queries to fetch difficult to obtain data

- Logical thought structuring and ability to draw insights/so- what's in simple to mid-complex projects with guidance

Essential skills required

Technical skills:

- Ability to form and express independent opinion on sectorial developments

- Should have worked for consulting firms or research teams in KPOs, focusing on Technology, Media and Telecoms sector and being able to understanding the nuances of these sectors.

- Ability to assess technical information to distil key strategic insights and convey these succinctly, clearly and confidently

- Experience in preparing contextualized reports, briefs, thought leaderships, market sizing, competitive assessments and analysis

- Proactively participate in team wide and sector community initiatives that foster a spirit of collaboration, knowledge sharing, discussing achievements as well as common concerns- overall enabling the team to raise the bar

- Develop a robust relationship with the onshore sector executives, global account managers and knowledge manager, engaging for projects and supporting the wider onshore network

- Ability to strategically analyze companies / markets / countries, especially in the Technology, Media and Telecoms sector

- Goal driven - should be focused on helping clients meet their requirements - by developing solutions when client requirement is unclear / changes, and by providing relevant insights and key questions to fit the client objective

- Personal drive and positive work ethic to deliver results within tight deadlines and in demanding situations

- High consciousness towards attention to detail; drive and commitment towards delivering high quality service to the KPMG network

- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of engagement types, working hours and work environments and locations

- Strong numerical, analytical and strategic thinking skills, and sound business / commercial acumen

- Proficiency in using standard research databases (Investext, Factiva, Capital IQ, MergerMarket, SDC Platinum, Lexis Nexis, etc.) as well as exposure to sector specific knowledge sources, in identifying surrogates, and triangulating data points

- Adept at strategic frameworks such as SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, PESTLE, etc.

- High problem solving skills; ability to drive through to an outcome in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity

- Produce professional, neat and client-ready power point presentations and excel worksheets

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Team player; self-driven and ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Education / professional qualifications:

- MBA / M.Com.

- PG in Economics

- PG in Information Technology related courses

Prior Experience:

- The candidate must have 1-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, particularly in a technology/media/telecom company, professional services firm / third-party KPO / specialized research houses, or research divisions of investment banks

- Experience of working on disruptive technology concepts (such as cognitive computing, big data, consumerization of IT), fundamentals of the hardware and software industry, and/or telecom concepts (regulatory environment, the telecom ecosystem, spectrum holding patterns, shift in telco strategy, value-added, non-voice services, enterprise services, etc.) and/or the localized media landscape

- Understanding of trends, challenges and growth drivers for the sector and have a view on their implications

- Experience of working within a dynamic environment across different time zones
