Manager - Accounting Advisory Services - CA/CPA/ACCA


AAS supports clients with technical accounting issues under US GAAP and IFRS. The team also supports clients with a range of M&A and other project-based advisory work including: converting to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US GAAP Convergence, IPOs, business combinations, cross-border transactions, sell-side advisory (carve-out financial statements), and financial statement preparation. KGS supports the onshore businesses of KPMG's AAS practices in the US and other global member firms to deliver these services. KGS professionals are an integral part of the AAS teams and will have the opportunity to see a variety of transaction and accounting issues and gain experience in client delivery as part of a cross-border team. We are currently seeking an Accounting Advisory Services Manager to join us in our Gurgaon office.

Responsibilities:

- Manage a team of staff to execute on client engagements and US practice development initiatives related to technical accounting and transaction advisory. This will include:

- Working directly with the onshore engagement team on a daily basis to deliver work to onshore clients;

- Managing a team of staff to support the engagement delivery and managing staffing resource decisions as required for the engagement

- Reviewing staff work and providing feedback and training as required

- Acting as a performance manager for the staff and being involved in the career development of the staff

- Training the staff on various US GAAP/IFRS/SEC Reporting guidance

- Delivering on a range of technical accounting and transaction advisory engagements. 


 This will include:

- Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on technical accounting matters (US GAAP/IFRS).

- Providing accounting advisory support and research to clients, including implementation assistance with new accounting standards

- Assisting with Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulatory filings for spin-offs, carve-outs, initial public offerings (IPO), debt offerings, and other acquisition filings for both domestic and cross-border transactions

- Providing conversion services to U.S. and foreign registered companies that need a change in their financial reporting to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

- Providing transaction oriented accounting and reporting assistance for mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, complex capital raising and financing structures, financial instruments, revenue recognition, and provide fresh-start accounting support to clients upon emergence from bankruptcy

- Coordinating with on-shore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issue(s) and provide research assistance on an as-needed basis on U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting pronouncements.

- Authoring on an as-needed basis white-papers, position papers, etc., on technical accounting matters for which research was performed. To research and author proactively, accounting white papers, position papers, etc. relating to current and anticipated industry/economic developments in such a way that these can then be used to pitch to potential clients for firm services.

- Supporting onshore business development related to areas such as proposals for new business, US GAAP/IFRS convergence, new accounting pronouncements and other regulatory changes which impact accounting decisions

- Take an active role in building and developing the AAS practice at KGS. This will include:

- Acting as a member of the AAS management team at KGS and making decisions on a range of practice operations and development initiatives, including staff training, performance management, and business development.

- Taking an active role in developing the skill sets and competencies of the staff members

- Building relationships with the onshore teams in order to drive hours offshore

Qualifications:

- Chartered Accountant (ICAI or ACCA) or CPA

- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college/university

- Strong understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS. Ability to research, read, comprehend and critically examine accounting standards and other pronouncements in order to have an informed point of view is a MUST.

- Additional expose to SEC reporting requirements is preferred.

- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and the ability to learn and succeed in a fast-paced environment

- Strong verbal and written English communication skills and a team player

- Ability to travel internationally

- Strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills required
