Role Narrative for : GM - Project

Company : Khazana Jewellery

Direct Reporting Relationship : Managing Director

Base Location : Chennai

1. Role Summary :

- The Head - Project will oversee the construction, fit out of new showrooms & related works and ensure adherence to launch plan. He would lead the Project's/ Interior's team at Khazana He would work closely with both senior management and his team of site engineers to ensure on-time execution of expansion plans.

2. Key Responsibilities "

The key responsibilities of Head - Project would include, but are not limited to the following:

- Project/Interior Work

- Work closely with senior management to develop Khazana's expansion plans

- Responsible for end-to-end execution of new store launch - from vendor identification, budgeting to store launch

- Plan manpower allocation to a new store depending on the availability, geographical & other constraints

- Co-ordinate with Architect to develop store layout & work closely with senior management to finalize the layout

- Work with junior team members to develop budget for all new stores across geographies

- Work with junior team members to ensure Khazana-standard interior across new stores while reducing/maintaining the cost & time

- Review progress by direct interaction from junior team members & on-site visits to new stores

- Adopt best-practices and enable junior team members to execute interior works to perfection

- Assist PMO (Project Management office) to track & update progress of new store launch

- Update the progress of new stores progress to senior management and escalate issues & support required

- People management & Review

- Develop a strong team to take care of Project team

- Develop clear work-plans and define roles and responsibilities for the Project team

- Put in place performance management and monitoring systems

- Evaluates progress against annual plans

- Provide appraisals and feedback to the team. Ensure staff are motivated and organized to exceed performance targets

- Develop appropriate rewards and incentives structures

- Motivate, nurture, and develop staff; Promote an atmosphere of teamwork

3. Desired Competencies

To perform this job successfully, following competencies are critical:

- Strong knowledge in retail interiors, fit-outs & civil works

- Strategic thinking - Identifying external threats and opportunities; adapting strategy to changing conditions.

- Business Acumen - Understanding business implications of decisions; Orientation for overall cost to company.

- Planning & managerial skills - ability to create & track plans, manage personnel & motivate team

- Ability to build good working relationships with multiple internal & external stakeholders

- Excellent & diverse verbal communication skills - ability to interact with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds & sophistication levels

4. Profile

- Technical Qualification - Mandatory: BE (Civil), Desirable: Qualification in Interior Designing

- Experience: 15-20 years in construction/interior works in a retail chain industry and at least 5 years in a senior management role

- Desirable linguistic skills - English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi

- Age: Below 45 years

- Job will require frequent travel to showroom sites across south India.

5. Key Performance Indicators

- Number of new showrooms opened against plan

- Cost of opening showroom within budget

- New store interior as per Khazana's standard
