About Khatabook :

The MSME sector...

Bharat has 60 Million MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises). 90% of India's ~$1 Trillion Retail Market is controlled by a traditional/unorganized sector. Which means ~$900B worth of commerce flows through these ~60M MSMEs in the form of shops/warehouses/kiosks/homes, scattered all over the country.

Who we are and what we do :

- Khatabook aims to build products that every MSME would use to run their business better.

- We started with the business ledger, which saves 3- 4 hours for merchants per day by managing their credit, creating transparency in cash flow, and increasing trust with their consumers - solving a critical need for India's MSMEs.

- We also empower merchants to collect payment digitally and help build their identity through offerings such as business cards.

What have we achieved so far :


- Today more than a Million merchants are uploading data and engaging with the Khatabook app daily while adding $200 Million worth of transactions every day. The high engagement has resulted in more than 25% of the total active merchants joining the platform through word-of-mouth and referrals.

Play your role in making history :

- KhataBook closed a $60 Million Series B Round by top investors during the COVID pandemic. India's MSMEs also showed their trust by the continued use of Khatabook in these troubled times. The Khatabook Team is now focussed on empowering them, by building the next-gen digital-first products that.

- Eases the management of capital cycles so that merchants can earn more money.

- Simplifies the acquisition and distribution of goods and smoothen the payments.

- Upskills merchants to run their businesses better.

Responsibilities :

Public Relations :

- Develop an exhaustive Public Relations strategy for Khatabook to drive awareness and positioning across key stakeholders (MSMEs, Talent, Investors)

- Handle all announcements and in-bound PR requests for the company

- Manage day-to-day relationships with agency, ensuring they deliver seamless media intelligence, media monitoring reports and announcement execution

- Be clued into strategic industry events and facilitate key speaker opportunities for the leadership and manage those speaking engagements

Marketing Collaboration :

- Supplement brand marketing campaigns run by Marketing Team through PR mediums

- Assist the Marketing team in creating PR strategies that enable user acquisition and retention

Crisis Management :

- Creation and execution of communication if the company ever faces a PR crisis

- Anticipation of possible PR crisis and taking proactive steps to avert it

- Regularly interact with leaders within the organisation to ideate compelling themes and narratives in-line with the strategy

- Drive the finalised themes and narratives through all available mediums including but not limited to print, social media and/or digital publications

Qualifications :

Work Experience & Skills :

- 9-13 years of experience in a corporate or marketing communications role, preferably in the start-up and technology sectors

- Strong media relations required

- Interest and experience in work that spans end-to-end communication channels - equally comfortable while pitching a story, looking into the nitty-gritties of running an event or writing a press release

- Understands the basics of branding - logo usage, placements, collateral development

- A strong storyteller - always ready to find unique angles and methods of getting a message across - and not just someone who goes for the tried and tested 


- Excellent writer with equally strong conversational skills

Personality Traits & Soft Skills :

- Entrepreneurial self-starter who excels in an unstructured environment, with the maturity to set their own goals and drive their own roadmap

- An execution ninja with a high sense of ownership and very high attention to detail o Not afraid to get their hands dirty and do the - boring- jobs. Can be relied upon to always cross the - t's and dot the - I's.

- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and translate the value of communications to business leaders
