Credit Underwriter Role : Associate for Underwriting Commercial Term Loans in the Commercial Real Estate team - North America Responsibilities : - Understand Credit Ecosystem - Tools & Applications, Policies, Procedures, Guidelines required to Underwrite new term loans and perform the Credit Analysis of Real Estate Borrowers - Independently prepare credit analysis on Real Estate Borrowers (qualitative and quantitative analysis) and recommend rating grades - Understand nuances of the new term loan requests and identify any inconsistencies or risks associated with them - Appraise and execute new term loan requests from Client Managers and prepare approval memos within the stipulated timelines; Ensure documentation requirements are met per the business and audit requirements - Build strong relationships and maintain open communication with stakeholders from various LOBs - Understand and respond to the queries raised by Credit Risk Director, onshore Underwriter, audit, etc. - Be current on the firm-wide risk policies, procedures & guidelines, and ensure all governance, reporting and data quality requirements are met and maintained - Mentor and train junior analysts in the team on fundamentals of underwriting, credit risk, internal systems & processes; and supervise/ review their work - Contribute to various firm-wide projects focused on improving efficiencies, risk technology, enhancing risk reporting, regulatory compliance, etc. Qualifications : MBA (with Finance specialization) / CA - 5-7 years of experience in credit risk; experience in real estate sector is preferred - Strong understanding of corporate finance and financial statements, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and basic accounting principles - Attitude and aptitude to learn and enhance knowledge of credit underwriting; and passion for real estate sector - Deadline orientation; strong attention to detail and high accuracy - Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop tools (MS Word, Excel and Power Point) and ability to learn new tools, techniques and applications - Ability to work proactively & independently, as well as in a team environment - Strong & Effective communication skills - both verbal & written; and good interpersonal skills to be able to effectively present analysis and build strong relationships with stakeholders at various hierarchies
