The factory in Aurangabad is focusing on the supply of synthetic absorbable sutures by demonstrating flawless execution, continuous improvement, and valuing our employees to support our vision of - Reach more patients, restore more lives- .  This position will lead the entire manufacturing in the Aurangabad site.  The Business Unit Manageris having end to end manufacturing responsibility covering all aspects of Safety, Quality, Compliance, Customer Service Cost & Productivity and will have a core role in the roll out of the J&J Production System. The Business Unit Manager is a critical position, responsible for the development and execution of the manufacturing strategy in line with the overall plant strategies, including but not limited to talent, supply chain and technology strategy.   The Business Unit Manager will report to the Plant Manager, Aurangabad and will be a member of the Site Leadership team. S/he will be accountable for achieving production targets while maintaining cost controls and responsible for managing production personnel to maximize quality and manufacturing output.  Position Responsibilities :  - Manages manufacturing operations to meet production goals.   - Establishes operations guidelines and production related procedures.   - Plans production flow, troubleshoots manufacturing issues, and monitors production orders and schedules.   - Analyzes production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and to prevent operational delays.   - Works closely with plant personnel in the areas to enhance safety and quality.   - Develops programs within these areas to ensurethat the plant is in compliance withinternal & external standards  - Defines trainings requirements, establishes training curricula and ensures compliant & effective execution of trainings  - Establishes and monitors plant's operational budget. Identifies cost saving opportunities in the respective areas.  - Ensures continuous improvement in down time reduction through tracking & trending as well as preventive maintenance  - Handles all aspects of managing personnel including hiring and termination. Provides coaching and development opportunities to staff. Evaluates performance and provides feedback. Implements disciplinary actions as necessary.  - Works closely with sub-ordinates to develop their goals & objectives, mentor direct reports, establishes talent rotation plan and developstraining plan for team member in line with business requirements  - Ensures monitoring and adherence of Good Manufacturing Practices & Good Documentation Practices in respective work areas.  - Compliance and Training: Observes & promotes all regulatory requirements as defined per applicable regulations, rules & procedures established by the Company, and notified any violation or deviation to the immediate supervisor or appropriate authority. Complies with all training requirements to perform duties of the job. Ensures adherence/compliance to Records Management policies and procedures, as applicable  Education & Experience :   - Degree in Engineering/ Science graduate from reputed institute.Post Graduation/ MBA /Certification as approved technical staff preferred  - Minimum of 12 years of related experience. Working Knowledge of laid down Statutory and Regulatory requirements  Functional Competencies :  Product Engineering :   - Demonstrates ability to conduct engineering analyses to determine technical performance drivers and to assess ability to support new product manufacturing, identifies potential root cause of asset performance issues using standard engineering approaches  Production Scheduling :  - Applies understanding of cycle time, throughput, labor efficiency, and related concepts to drive alignment with overall Production Plan to ensure raw materials are in place to support production  - Demonstrates ability to take appropriate corrective action to resolve discrepancies and maintain production balance after reviewing actual performance as compared to plan   - Demonstrates understanding of the impact of equipment downtime and adjusts daily production plans accordingly  Production Management :   - Demonstrates ability to audit and implement corrective action when lapses related to regulatory and compliance requirements are identified   - Demonstrates understanding of health and safety requirements and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) regulatory requirements   Production Quality :  - Leverages understanding of the Quality Control function, including quality requirements, objectives, and processes to assist in the resolution of production quality issues  - Draws insights from failure analysis to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions   - Demonstrates ability to oversee the process of collecting and reporting quality data   - Demonstrates ability to understand process controls and monitor / track critical process measures  Production Cost Management :  - Demonstrates understanding of the need for cost management and its importance for customers and consumers  - Demonstrates basic knowledge of product costs (i.e. COGS), Design to Value concepts, and key levers that impact improvement or degradation in cost performance  Packaging Application :  - Demonstrates basic knowledge of different packaging materials, technologies, and customer requirements that influence packaging applications  - Demonstrates knowledge of one or more technology enablers for packaging Completes requisite training and certifications on all assigned packaging equipment  Documentation :  - Demonstrates deep knowledge of GMP/GDP rules and regulations as well as any other applicable standards  - Demonstrates ability to understand on impact on production quality and consequences of non-compliance  - Demonstrates ability to develop appropriate J&J SOPs/SPECS in response to new regulations, new changes to process/equipment  Continuous Improvement :   - Demonstrates the ability to recognize the need for improvement and a basic understanding of continuous improvement tools and approaches such as Lean Six Sigma, VOC, and Total Quality Management (correlates to - Yellow Belt- certification)  Production Equipment and Engineering Basics :  - Understanding of basic technology used in all production Equipment's used in the shop floor.  - Can understand cause of day to day normal equipment failure and able to correct the same with /without support from Engineering team  - Can provide input to the Operator /Engineering team for modification / Improvement  Equipment Maintenance :  - Applies understanding of preventative maintenance schedules to support timely and efficient upkeep of equipment to minimize plant downtime   - Demonstrates ability to track the maintenance schedule, work completed and results.
