Project Manager- Software Development Nature of Work
This is a first level manager position and an individual is expected to be:
- Responsible for delivering a high quality S/W project, meeting all required functionality, within allocated schedule and budget.
- Responsible for entire project consisting of 8-12 team members and for managing all issues relating to team/ project.
- Involved in all Strategic Business Unit related issues.
- Able to direct the successful design, implementation and delivery of one or more projects, depending on the project size and management experience.
- Responsible for all aspects of project management and management of all resources. Able to coach/ mentor the junior members in the project and provide necessary support to them.
- Expected to manage projects from multiple customers.
- Responsible for managing customer expectation and keeping customer satisfied.
- Able to manage crisis situation and having good trouble shooting skills. Reports to
DGM / General Manager/ Group Head Qualification & Experience
- 10 years of experience in S/W development
Skill Set:
1. Technical Skills (These are the proposed pre - requisites to be looked into during recruitment and induction, before a person is assigned to a project or group)
2. Managerial Leadership and Personal Skills
- Thorough knowledge of current technological trends in the S/W development industry such as OOPs, Multi-Tier S/W development, Component Architecture, Web-Based S/W.
- Thorough knowledge of programming languages, OS, H/W capabilities and one or more S/W specialty areas such as application packages, DBMS, Middleware products, Networking and Communication.
- Should have knowledge of Project Execution Methodology i.e.; Agile.
- Thorough knowledge of system integration issues.
- Knowledge of Graphic User Interface design.
- Ability to gather and analyze data & draw logical conclusions.
- Ability to write technical articles and reports.
- Knowledge of Object-oriented analysis.
- Should be PMP or Prince2 certified.
- Prior exposure in BPM / ECM technologies is an added advantage.
- Understanding of company's vision & goals, business operations and market.
- Understands the theories and principles of management and administration.
- Knowledge of planning, project management, budgeting and quality assurance as it relates to S/W development projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize customer requests with the assistance of other managers to ensure the highest level of service possible to the customer.
- Ability to write performance evaluations, issue counseling forms and disciplinary actions, handle employee complaints and grievances and recommend the hiring, termination and promotion of staff.
