ISGN is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the COE. The incumbent will provide Technical leadership and operational direction to the offshore and onshore engineering practice.

The Product Engineering COE at ISGN

The Product Engineering Center of Excellence is the heart and nerve center of the company's product development strategy and execution. Reporting directly to the CTO, this group is responsible for end to end engineering delivery for ISGN's various Mortgage Technology Products.

The Engineering group comprises of three to four distinct product delivery groups that build world class mortgage products. Each group works on distinct products with varying technology stacks including .net, java, AS400, PowerBuilder etc. Using the Agile process of software development engineering scrum teams work on several tracks including new feature functionality builds, improving feature sets and modernization, technical debts, product integrations, product implementations and support etc.

The Engineering COE works under the direction of the CTO and along with the Product Management groups who are responsible for charting the product roadmaps.

The Position

ISGN is currently looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the COE. The incumbent will provide Technical leadership and operational direction to the offshore and onshore engineering practice. Some of the primary roles and responsibilities include;

Technical - 

- Analyses engineering scope and creates & maintains project schedules, defines activities, sequence, dependencies, work effort estimation, duration and associated resource requirements

- Responsible for management of 160 members consisting of Directors, Sr. Managers, Managers, Architects, Technical and Team leads as well as teams of software engineers below them

- Direct the successful design, implementation and delivery of key engineering assignments including product modernization, feature functionality improvements, internal and external product integrations, deeper ESB integrations and building of Web Services and API's

- To Coach/ mentor the team members and provide necessary technical support to them

- Completely responsible for delivering a high quality product deliverable, meeting all required functionality, within allocated schedule and budget

- Assists technical leads, architects and developers in establishing standard development practices in projects

- Translates requirements into the required technical solution by defining and documenting the high-level logical components and overall technical solution characteristics in functional specifications and high-level designs

- Works with the Architect, Technical Leads to validate the development approach and assumptions that underlie the project plan and work plan

- Ensures the quality and integrity of all designs, including the adherence to standards, project technical requirements and best practices

- Facilitates knowledge-sharing and the development of a sense of community within the technical delivery groups

- Responsible for monitoring project plans and actively participates in project audits

- Schedules Software Development Lifecycle reviews as and when needed

- Responsible for the end to end delivery of product roadmap items using Agile Methodology

- Leads requirement workshops

Business

- Responsibility for engineering budget and financial planning and tracking

- Leading the research on potential technology solutions in support of business strategy

- Identification, defining and execution of the strategic engineering projects in line organization strategy

- Working with product management stakeholders to define requirements for new technology implementations

- Performing quality assurance of engineering projects against established standards and practices

Leadership

- Responsibility for overall engineering operations, projects and delivery

- Managing a high performance team and driving them to a higher degree of efficiency

- Developing and delivery of KPI- s, goals and objectives of the team and organization

- Managing staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

Technical Skills

- Knowledge of technological trends in the S/W development industry, such as SOA, Multi-Tier S/W development, Web Based S/W.

- Working experience on Microsoft Technologies - ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, VB.

- Working experience in Java/J2EE

- Knowledge of or experience in legacy technologies such as AS400 & PowerBuilder

- Deep understanding of logical database design and development, especially in Microsoft SQL Server

- Deep experience in SaaS projects

- Thorough understanding of Project Management methodologies and tools

The Position Requirements

- A University degree in the field of software engineering in addition to a post-graduation in Business or software development

- 19+ years of experience with at least a 10 years proven track record in leading product development teams of 75+ members

- Proven experience product engineering especially on the Cloud and SaaS services

- Strong knowledge of systems design principles, requirements specifications, standards development and practices
