About the Department:

Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.

The Northeast Desk at Invest India was operationalized in March 2021, upon the instructions of DPIIT to usher in a transformation in the investment ecosystem in the Northeast. The dedicated NE Desk is set up to supplement the efforts of the North-Eastern State Governments in promoting, targeting, and facilitating investment into the region.

Key Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities of the team member would be to:

- Be a strong team member and support the team to engage with multiple stakeholders including Ministries/Departments, State Governments, Quasi-Government Agencies, Industry Associations, PSUs, Investors, and Private Promoters/Investors.

- Work closely with state industries department, state sectoral departments and concerned agencies and help them with their investment targeting, promotion and facilitation

- Undertake research to determine the industry competitiveness of the State and propose strategies to enhance the state as a preferred investment destination

- Preparation and presentation of high-quality research, reports, briefing notes required for specific projects

- Study best practices with regard to the promotion of investment both at national and international levels which can be replicated in the North East region

- Support the desk in policy benchmarking exercises for the focus sectors in the states of Northeast.

- Support the desk in facilitating the preparation of annual capacity-building plans of the states

- Target, interact, retain, and handhold foreign and domestic players to attract investments

- Spearhead Invest India's role on several fronts such as Startup India, AGNIi, ODOP, Project Development Cells, Country Desks, Capacity Building etc.

Qualifications:

- Post-graduate degree in economics, finance, business administration, or related field from a premier institute is preferable.

- 1-2 years of work experience

- Ability to work in teams and take ownership of the task at hand

- Strong commitment to accuracy and professionalism

- Excellent communication, people and analytical skills

- Ability to work amid strict deadlines and on multiple projects

- Candidate with linguistic and cultural familiarity shall be preferred
