Job Description of Head - Product Management

The responsibilities of the Product management head would include creating product vision, product strategy, product design and product development. S/He must be a visionary with established experience in product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle while ensuring full alignment with organisation's overall strategy and goals.

Objectives and Responsibilities:

Functional competences:

- Establish methodologies and procedures for conducting research, design conceptualization, prototyping, and product development across the entire product management department.

- Drive execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch

- Lead the product management team performance as aligned to the vision and strategy.

- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and outsourcing opportunities

- Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples

- Manage the product lifecycle from planning the strategic intend to writing specs for the features/ functionalities and working across the department

- Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiate and Perform product demos to customers

- Modify and Manage the performance of the product in line with stakeholder expectations.

- Develop in-house team competence to ensure high productivity.

Managerial competences:

- Formulate the Product Management departments' vision and impart that vision in every sub-department and employee in the function.

- Drive the product and business-planning process across cross-functional teams of the company

- Propose an overall budget and ensure judicious and optimal utilisation of resources.

- Handle day-to-day operations of development of ongoing projects and planning the execution of upcoming projects/initiatives.

- Engage with various departments such as Program design, Academics, BD/Sales, etc., and understand the need for new product initiatives or improvement of existing tools for higher productivity or better user experience.

- Design and maintain advanced SoPs to create more efficient and effective outcomes.

Business competences:

- Spearhead products' strategy formation as well as execution, with clear understanding of stakeholder expectations.

- Analyze consumer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build vs. buy perspective

- Be an expert with respect to the competition and industry and work along with the senior management to establish targeted metrics towards a future growth, diversification and expansion plan.

- Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate to-market plans.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

- Master's degree in product design or engineering or management with added certifications and demonstrated competences.

- Additional knowledge of higher education, learning and development function

Essential Experience:

- Ideal Candidate must have experience of over 12 years in Product Management position, preferably in higher education segment as Head of product Management.

- Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent products and experience in scaling up product in early-stage companies.

- Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and an ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and inspire cross-functional teams with professionalism and clarity.

- Proven ability to build teams and lead organizations in a rapidly growing environment with experience of managing product managers.
