Department: Finance Reports to (title): Divisional Finance Director Division: Asia Education PURPOSE OF THE JOB The regional Internal Controls Manager &amp; Systems Process Improvement Lead is responsible for testing controls as documented in the Internal Controls Framework (ICF), and evaluating whether they are operating effectively. Where weaknesses or deficiencies are identified the Internal Controls Manager &amp; Systems Process Improvement Lead will propose remedial actions and support the business to implement improvements. The regional Internal Controls Manager &amp; Systems Process Improvement Lead is part of a global network of Internal Controls Managers &amp; Systems Process Improvement Leads who by way of testing and evaluating controls ensure consistency of global and divisional finance processes and controls and where necessary provide support for process improvement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong audit and internal control experience to make an important contribution globally: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Carry out tests (remotely or through domestic/international field visits) on internal controls across finance and business processes to ensure that a standardised and consistent control framework is adhered to across the company. 2. Communicate the performance of key controls to senior management and ensuring continuous improvement activities are carried out. 3. Work collaboratively with the business to identify additional areas for improvement and good practice. 4. Ensure that control issues, identified as a result of the performance of the internal controls, are re-mediated by the business in a timely manner. The Internal Controls Manager make recommendations and work collaboratively with the business to make controls - Green- 5. Provide support to the supervisor on finance change initiatives/projects when required. 6. Work collaboratively with other Internal Controls Managers &amp; Systems Process Improvement Leads to identify, design, and implement Group-wide continuous improvement initiatives. Share initiatives and experience with other ICM's on monthly Skype call. 7. Carry out periodic reviews of the Expense Management System for all divisional branches. 8. Provide support on the financial analysis, Non Stock Purchase Order data and other data as and when required. 9. Keep the Internal Control Network Coordinator- informed of work plans and progress of testing in monthly 1:1, periodically review controls review work with the coordinator to ensure consistent approach is applied across the company. - All divisional internal controls manager have a dotted line reporting to this role. Currently, the role is headed by Gillian Bisset in UK. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE - A degree holder in Accounting or Finance with 7+yrs of previous audit experience, ideally within a global organization - Strong general ledger experience along with working knowledge of financial systems and the management of data - Substantial project and change management experience - Experience in driving financial process and controls improvement initiatives - Excellent stakeholder management skill with the ability to influence across all levels of seniority - Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written - Excellent problem solving skills and able to make decision effectively - Cultural awareness with experience of working across different time zones - Wiling to travel at around 50% and work independently. DIMENSIONS - Finance teams are currently situated at Branch, Division and Group level.
