About the IITB Trust Lab:

In today's digital world, dedicated efforts are required to mitigate the risk from a broad spectrum of threats and vulnerabilities from cybercrimes and cyberwarfare, amongst others. The IITB Trust Lab will focus on "Trust" on our cyber infrastructure - encompassing security, privacy, accountability, and users' trust on all aspects of a system. The Lab aims at attracting and nurturing world-class researchers and providing them resources for building top notch research programs, including research cutting across traditional disciplinary boundaries. The Lab's vision is to contribute to the practice of Digital Trust in industry and government, via joint research projects, expert consulting, policy dialogues, standardization efforts, developing and curating state-of-the-art free and open-source software (FOSS) resources, facilitating the translation of theoretical and academic research into practical applications, etc. The IITB Trust Lab will develop and implement an educational framework in Digital Trust, at IIT Bombay and a network of institutions around the country.

About the Position:

The Program Manager's position at the IITB Trust Lab offers a unique opportunity to develop a highly visible profile in the cybersecurity community globally. As the first position opened at the Lab, the candidate will get to work directly with renowned professors and industry leaders in a highly stimulating high-caliber environment of IIT Bombay. The position also offers an opportunity to get involved in organization building and its development as the Lab is getting started now.

Job Purpose:

Program Manager will coordinate the Lab's activities and functions to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the Lab are accomplished under the guidance of the Program Director (PD) and the Principal Investigators (PIs). The role involves working with faculty, department, and staff to facilitate infrastructure, research and academic programs, events, and outreach. Careful stewardship of Lab's assets and effective management of budgets along with project management of all activities are an important deliverable in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with technical and non-technical teams associated with the IITB Trust Lab.

- Help translate the broad outlines of a program to a concrete implementation plan under the guidance of the PD and PIs.

- Implement the program by reaching out to other agencies/prospective beneficiaries.

- Help recruit appropriate personnel to handle the program implementation.

- Measure the effectiveness and course correct as needed to achieve program goals.

- Help the PD and PIs scope, plan, implement, and deliver programs, collaborating with all relevant teams in alignment with the Lab's strategic vision and goals.

- Facilitate development/localization/improvements of Lab's assets, helping personnel within and outside IITB collaborate towards the Lab's objectives

- Preparation of periodic reports, financial statements and recording of center projects, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies

- Provide an oversight to the day-to-day functioning of the Lab with support from other relevant personnel and agencies in the Department and at IITB

- Strong educational pedigree, preference for qualification in science and technology.

- Minimum 8-10 years' relevant experience and exposure to research/academic activities. Past experience in a similar role will be preferred.

- A Bachelor's degree in Management or Engineering or equivalent with minimum one to two years' experience in project management and marketing activities will be a must.

- Must be skilled in developing spreadsheets, report writing, oral/written professional communications and presentation development.

- Excellent command over written and spoken English is required.

- Background in computer science, networking, and/or cybersecurity is desired.
