Senior Associate - Risk Monitoring

Job Summary :

The risk monitoring team member would work closely with the Head - Risk Monitoring in conducting periodic risk monitoring of IFMR Capital's partners. The Risk Monitoring team visits each of our partner entities 2-3 times a year at the branch and regional office as well as the head office.

The position involves identifying assessment of risk in operations as well as discussion with the senior management of the partner on areas such as business plan, funding, recruitment, product, operations, credit, collections etc. to update our understanding of their product, policy and process. The position requires extensive travel (2 weeks a month on regular basis) and on-the-field presence.

Job Description :

Post-investment monitoring : Periodic monitoring of partner companies (MFIs and Non-MFIs), post investment in these entities and reporting on any warning signals or signs of deterioration in quality of operations.

Identifying gaps : Visiting partners and working with their top management and operations team to identify weak areas and gaps in the operations of the partners. These weaknesses may be in corporate governance, quality of field operations, human resources, MIS, underwriting, security creation, operations, collections, monitoring and control systems or financial health of the entity.

Action plan : In case of weak areas identified, make recommendations on possible avenues to overcome the weak areas.

- Adding to the body of understanding of asset classes in which IFMR Capital is working, by participating due diligence's with origination team, participating credit committee meetings, research or any secondary study.

- Engage closely with other teams in the risk function such as risk analytics and risk modelling to understand issues relating to client reporting for structured finance transactions or clarify areas such as overdue analysis etc.

Skills and Qualifications :

- Detail oriented, good prioritization skills pro-active and goal-oriented

- Ability to provide clear, succinct and timely reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Knowledge of other vernacular languages would be of value

- Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word);

- Financial analysis skills to perform analysis on entities

- Any other analytical skills that can form an input to the development of frameworks and tools in the risk monitoring function would be of value

- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics or Development Finance would be considered favorably.

- Prior work experience in Development Finance / Housing Finance/ Business or SME Underwriting / Commercial Vehicle Finance would be considered favorably
