HSBC - Manager - Credit Policy (6-9 yrs)

Job Profile:

The Credit Policy role is responsible for setting and authorising HSBC's tolerance level of credit exposure relating to either traditional or complex financing activities. It is also responsible for analysing and reviewing financial information pertinent to potential borrowers/customers.

Role holders will carry out activities that will include most of the following:

- Directly influencing the operational effectiveness of the functional/functional unit

- Co-ordinating and managing projects. Typically, working on large, moderately complex projects/assignments

- Management responsibility for a team, including people, objective setting and performance

- Supporting decisions through advice, counsel or services in area of specialisation

- Accountable for delivery against prescribed targets, budgets and resourcing and responsible for volume, quality, and timeliness of end results

- Acting as initial point of escalation for team members

- Adhering to and actively supporting established policies and procedures in own team

- Supporting change initiatives and embed change initiatives within own team

- Handle queries on the Credit Risk policy

- Draft changes to the policy documents and discuss with relevant stakeholders

- Own the process to incorporate changes in the policy under the guidance of an onshore partner

- Have meaningful conversations with stakeholders who suggest changes to the policy

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications (For the role - not the role holder. Minimum requirements of the role.)


- Post graduate in any discipline with relevant experience


- Good knowledge of Wholesale Banking, Credit Risk & Credit risk workflow

- Good written and verbal communication skills in English

- Good interpersonal skills with positive attitude

- Be change oriented and able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines


- At least six years relevant professional experience in a financial services or consulting firm

- Knowledge of HSBC Group, its operations, systems and products and risk systems preferable

- Knowledge of Credit Risk policy preferable
