Role Purpose : The COO function role is being set up to provide support on a number of risk focused responsibilities as required by the CFMB COO as well as Product Risk Head for Global Banking In addition, role will also have responsibilities on the newly migrated Client Escalations Committee. Client Escalations Committee : We are looking for a very dynamic, result oriented proactive individual who can leverage their network and relationship building skills to manage a multi-faceted role. The role requires: 1. Ability to multitask, 2. Liaise with different parts of the bank on vastly varying issues and requirements 3. Manage very senior stakeholders 4. Create meaningful MI and analyse trends effectively 5. Follow up on recurring themes from the MI and identify solutions, which are followed through to conclusion 6. Have a good understanding of the Client life cycle, particularly the onboarding processes COO function : support is a key management layer of for CFMB and Product Risk. The team works in partnership with the GB COO function to implement strategy and track/refine KPI- s, and engage with stakeholders across the wider GB environment and support functions to translate this into effective global execution strategy and implementation plans. The role assists in ensuring effective governance structures and processes are in place from a front to back basis, as well as assisting with the seamless implementation of various initiatives. There are 2 main responsibilities for the COO function : - To assist with the global remit of the COO function in providing effective governance and oversight - To assist with EMEA COO issues including implementation of specific initiatives and embedding controls into BAU The Analyst is expected to develop a detailed understanding of issues across Products / Verticals, regions and countries, and to act as a conduit between those areas and the Heads of Product Risk and the CFMB COO regarding any issues of which they become aware. Principal Accountabilities : Assist Product Risk Head / CFMB COO / Regional COOs to manage the day-to-day operations of their respective remits. This will involve understanding departmental structures / organization charts / headcount / Control of Information Procedures. Tasks include, but are not limited to : - Assisting with review of drive access and structure - Assisting with review of floor access - Assisting with review of distribution lists - Troubleshooting on BAU issues around policies and processes - Drafting and initial review of Performance Level Agreements - Assisting with update of relevant intranet sites, including loading of manuals Assist Product Risk Head to communicate with Product / Verticals and to cascade / embed change into relevant control processes by : - Drafting communications to be sent out - Tracking and following up feedback received in response to those communications - Assisting to collate information around country / regional variations in processes - Assisting with the writing of desk instruction manuals Assist Product Risk Head to oversee the front-to-back governance and risk control framework, including : - Reviewing / finalizing decks for Risk Management Forums, taking minutes and tracking follow up issues - Preparing / reviewing / finalizing decks for the Volcker Review forums, taking minutes and providing quality assurance for the documents stored on the Volcker sharepoint - Tracking action plans in response to outstanding Audit issues / CMAT findings / MSII to ensure implementation plans are effectively monitored and escalate any issues / slippages - Regular collation of non-customer counterparties on a global basis - Ensuring any incidents are properly loaded into ORION - Ensuring consistency across business continuity plans Assist with the rollout of IT systems and regulatory changes as required : - Support the CFMB COO and Regional COOs on their priority projects - related to key developments in the Bank. - Ad hoc response to queries as they arise Typical Targets and Measures : - Delivery of high quality results within specified deadlines as required. - 360 feedback - Major projects delivered to time and budget, with sustainable improvements. - Implementation of Global Standards. Major Challenges : The business operates within a tight regulatory framework which will require an adaptive individual who has the ability to react to respond quickly to information requests, to prioritise effectively and to manage expectations. Key challenges include : - Dealing with a range of simultaneous tasks with conflicting and changing priorities, which provides time management challenges - Managing the balance between effective execution of day to day operations and services, whilst also handling project work Role Context : - The Product Risk Head handles global issues as well as providing oversight for Europe. Regional Product Risk Managers are in place for MENA, Americas and Asia who are responsible for regional governance and control issues. - The Product Risk Analyst will provide support for the UK / EMEA, as well as provide the Product Risk Head with support to address global issues - Whilst the role will operate under the direction of the Head of Product Risk, the encumbent is expected to act independently and to interface directly with key stakeholders. Management of Risk : The jobholder will also continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and business area, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring, and the impact of new technology. This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and addressing any areas of concern with the appropriate persons and/or department. Observation of Internal Controls : The jobholder will also adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by assisting in the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications : - Highly self-motivated, energetic and resilient - Pragmatic and delivery focussed - Very strong analytical and presentation skills, with excellent grasp of powerpoint / excel / word and ability to distil large quantities of information into key themes / issues - Able to deliver quality results within pressurised deadlines and to prioritise effectively - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work across cultures - Numerate as well as demonstrating financial discipline - Strong interpersonal skills together with the ability to build a network of contacts and form strong working relationships
