Job description DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: - Lead New Product development activity (R & D Tasks) in Ayuvedic Product category in line with Business Needs and ensure on-time-in-full delivery of all R & D product development related tasks to ensure launch timeline. - Lead the Ayurveda NPD R & D team to design the Paper Formula, Develop Prototype, Scale up & Commercialize for various Ayurveda based Products, Dosage format & any new format e.g. (Powder/Solid Dose/Liquids/Other). - Work with Marketing and bring New Product Ideas through Prototype generation through Innovation day/ Concept Caf- - Work with cross functional teams for Prototype generation, Scale Up, Shelf Life Study, Formula costing (COGS), Sensory and commercialization - Generate samples utilizing a controlled environment w/well documented process - Create formula-process instructions for Master Batch Records - Collaborate with various team members to create product specifications for QC testing/development of labeling specifications/creation of applicable technical information dossiers. - Collaborate with Regulatory to prepare product dossiers to meet regulatory compliance - Work with manufacturing, GSS and QA to ensure that formula and processes are scaled up to optimum production levels (assist in education and training of production/others). - Create formula-process instructions for Master Batch Records - Collaborate with various team members to create product specifications for QC testing/development of labeling specifications/creation of applicable technical information dossiers. - Collaborate with Regulatory to prepare product dossiers to meet regulatory compliance - Work with manufacturing, GSS and QA to ensure that formula and processes are scaled up to optimum production levels (assist in education and training of production/others). - Lead/Participate in plant trials of New/Tech transfer of products, including approving and releasing samples from the trial for submission to Technical (R&D-Tech Ops-Quality) Providing full documentation. - Introduce appropriate technical solutions to debottleneck product related issues in existing product or New product. - Ability to assess existing process challenges, implementing continuous improvement enhancements with creative and innovative problem-solving skils - Understand regulatory issues/needs/basic nutrition as part of formulation work - Evaluate new raw materials for inclusion in new products or existing products to achieve cost improvement or functional improvements. - Ability to evaluate other products and provide benchmark analysis/feedback - Participate in qualification of Contract manufacturers/Co-Packers - Assist in the presentation of new products to marketing (regional and corporate) - Provide support for label development especially for nutritional content - Creative and innovative problem-solving skills - Able to manage projects while multi- tasking under pressure with short timelines. - Basic understanding India regulatory guidelines and requirements that needs to be taken care in formulation or product design REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills: - Knowledge on Ayurveda Products & Ingredients, Ayurveda Pharmacopeia. - Full understanding of linkages between Ayurveda Principle and modern science - Knowledge of Safety practices and establishing safety for Ayurveda range of Ingredients - Networking with appropriate institute/ organisations to conduct safety/ clinical study - Experience with all Ayurveda Dosage format like Tablet, Capsule, Granules, Tea/Kwath, powders, Liquid etc. - Excellent written-oral communication skills to be able to interface at local level/region/corporate - Excellent team leader/member skill sets, ability to work with all staff levels - Excellent computer software skills (MS Word, Excel/PLM) and other operating systems - Project management skills, including excellent organization, detail orientation and follow through - Excellent written-oral communication skills to be able to interface at local level/region/corporate Experience: - A person with knowledge of Herbal/ Ayurveda with 10-12 years exp in Herbal/Ayurveda Product Development and formulation development (M.D Ayurveda/ M. Pharma Ayurveda/ PHD in Herbal & Ayurveda). Education: - MS in Ayurveda /Herbal Education background PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - M. S. in Ayurveda - 10 years of full time R&D or Technical Service/Manufacturing experience in a multi-national Company
